James + Leona / Pregnant

Leona was worried. She had been married to James for nearly four months, and it had been all happy. But now, she was starting to get weird symptoms:
She began getting nauseous in the mornings and around certain foods, like spaghetti.
She began to get breast pains, even though she didn't usually get those during her time of the month.
The most concerning symptom occurred: her period didn't come at all.

Of course, Leona wasn't stupid. She knew what it all meant. But, to be certain, she called Tania and Cher for help.

"It's happening. It's happening. It's happening~" Cher kept saying from outside the bathroom door as Leona took the test, jumping up and down. Tania laughed, grabbing her new friend by the shoulders and making her stand in one spot. Cher continued to vibrate. "I'm just so excited!"

"Me too," Tania agreed, smiling. She let go of Cher and leaned onto the wall. "I kind of wish it's a girl. I mean, imagine Jaime with a little girl holding his hand. It'll be so cute!"

"Oh, but imagine Leona with a little boy," Cher said, cupping her face with her hands, beaming. "She'd spoil him. Anyway, he'd be such a cute baby, just like his dad was."

Leona listened to her cousin and sister-in-law's words, smiling and agreeing with everything they said. Of course, she'd be happy with either gender, but first, she had to be sure if she was pregnant.

"How are you doing there, prima?" Tania called.

"I'm fine!" Leona answered, finally opening the door. She gestured to the test on the counter. "Now we just wait."

And they did. Cher pulled Leona into a hug while Tania crossed both her fingers excitedly. Finally, it was time.

"Okay," Leona said, holding her tummy as she turned toward the test. She kept her eyes shut as she picked it up. "One, two, three..."

She looked. They all burst into tears.
