I followed my ears until I made it to the stream. It had gotten dark enough now that it was difficult to see which is pretty dangerous. Sure I know my way around but nightly predators, vampires and angels would have an advantage over my weak human eyes. I sat down at a particularly fast flowing part of the stream to fill up the canteens. My legs were killing me now. I'd trekked several miles for it since it's been too dry to survive completely off of rainwater. I was supposed to be doing this with someone but they shirked it off so I had to do two runs. On my second go, I took the chance to wash my face in the stream. I heard twigs breaking and froze. I turned off my torch in an attempt to hide but the moon was a little too bright and though I sat still, I was aware I was still out in the open. We haven't seen angels for some time but that doesn't mean they've stopped coming after us. Charlie's group has been hunted pretty ruthlessly. I stood up as a figure crept out of the trees,
"Dad?" I recognised the figure as I shone my torch beam on him. He looked like him but also eerily not, I couldn't tell what was wrong with him,
"Grace?" His voice sounded the same. I narrowed my eyes,
"Who are you?" He looked down now, nodding,
"You're not my Grace" He said, I didn't realise his voice could get lower. Was there an accent on him? It sounded like he was hiding an accent, "My Grace was killed a long time ago" I was put on edge at the fact he was hiding an accent. Why?
"How did she die?"
"Angels found her" He looked at the trees above him, "They've been hunting me ever since" They did hunt my dad when they found out about me. Something tells me I should still let out a scream to warn the camp. "Grace" He took a step towards me and I jumped back, dropping my torch. My back hit something and before I could turn around to see what it was, hands came around and covered my mouth and put a blade under my chin. A trap. This world's Castiel put two fingers on my forehead and I blacked out.
Bobby held Emily back as she nearly flew at the guy meant to accompany Grace for the water,
"I'll deal with this" He said to her, giving her a look. She turned her angered gaze from the man to Bobby and gave a nod. She backed off until she bumped into another. Castiel had just entered the camp with Dean, Gabriel, Jack and a group of people in need of protection. She looked over at the men, determining that they were from her world before embracing her husband,
"Cas" Castiel also pulled his wife to him, happy to have her in his arms again. She pulled away from him again, "Grace, she's gone missing" His smile faded,
"How long ago?"
"A couple hours at least" She marched across the camp, quickly followed by Cas and Dean, "She was taken by surprise since she didn't alert any of us" She found the evidence left behind of the half filled jugs, torch and picked up an angel blade, "She left this behind"
"If they didn't kill her there then it means they must want her for something" Dean said, "She's a good escape artist, I'm sure she'll be fine while we look for her" Emily nodded but that didn't make her feel any better. It's not that she didn't trust her daughter's smarts, she'd been working closely with her like never before, she got to know a side of her daughter she didn't realise she had. Still, the thought of what they might do to her in the meantime was unsettling and it's not like Grace is immune to pain. The angels here were far more ruthless than on her world, they put the demons to shame. Castiel noticed the toll on her and put his arm around her shoulders,
"We'll find her" He said. She closed her eyes and leaned into him. It has been so long since she'd been comforted. Her and Grace only had each other for so long and a lot of that time, she was worrying about her daughter. She took a breath before opening her eyes again and noticing an absence,
"Where's Sam?" Dean dipped his head,
"Sam's..." Jack tapped his shoulder,
"Dean, look" They turned around and saw a very bloody looking Sam standing across the camp. His neck and clothes were covered in blood. Dean's face lightened for a second before another figure walked up behind him. Sam too didn't get to stay happy for long as Lucifer showed his face.
I opened my eyes slowly, using my ears to determine I was alone first. I could hear voices in the other room, yelling and screaming. The room was dark and I was in handcuffs. I reached into my pocket and picked out a pin I keep for just such an occasion. I jammed it into the lock before the door opened and two angels came in. I watched them, trying to decide if I should unlock myself now or wait. They pulled out their blades, nope, I need to go now. I hit the pin in and the handcuffs snapped open. I jumped up from the chair as an angel lunged at me and I snapped one side of the handcuffs on his wrist. I grabbed the blade off the other and put that angel's wrist in the other side. The pair were both right handed so only one at a time was in the position to attack and when I pushed them back, they couldn't keep balanced. They crashed through the window and I jumped out over them. I was about to run but I took a look back at the heap I'd made and I chuckled a little. That wore off as a blade tucked itself under my chin and an arm wrapped around my body, pulling me back,
"Drop the blade" He muttered. He wasn't hiding his accent now. I knew it was different, all he needed now was a tiny mustache. I was still looking at the building but I knew it was him. I saw rushed movement from the side of the building and saw my real dad stop just across from us, "Stay back!" He ordered, "I'll kill the nephilim" My dad didn't say anything. He just watched, his expression was cold and his eyes alternated between me and this world's Castiel, "Put your blade down" Dad's blade slipped down his sleeve into his hand, "Put it down" I shook my head at dad when he looked like he would, showing him mine. The blade at my neck started to burn as I guess it was starting to cut through but I angled my blade back and stabbed him in the leg. As he yelled out, his grip loosened and I dropped to the ground while my dad threw his blade into his chest. He rushed over to me now,
"Grace" I was holding my neck where it bled and my dad was just healing it when Jack rushed around the corner,
"Look out!" He called. His eyes glowed and we both looked behind us to see another angel was sneaking up on us. Currently though it was trapped by Jack. I wasn't sure if Jack knew what to do with it since, last I checked, he couldn't figure out his powers but he clicked his fingers and the angel exploded into mist. Well. That's handy. The most I've been able to do was throw them through windows. Dean came out supporting one hunter and Sam came out semi supporting the other. Charlie didn't like people supporting her. I got a distinct feeling she didn't like people in general. Sam walked with her but she made sure to keep him at a distance. When they walked out, her eyes widened with alarm,
"Grace?" I smiled innocently,
"Hi"
"What are you doing here? I thought you worked with Jakob" I looked down at the dead Castiel between us and she got the message. Whilst I remembered, I pulled my knife from his leg and wiped off the blood in some grass. I could heal Charlie but she didn't like it and if I was too pushy, she'd snap,
"Looking a little worse for wear Charles" I tilted my head,
"No" She shut down immediately,
"Fine" I said, my smile turning a little evil, "So who's going to carry you if we end up getting chased by a round of reinforcements?" The other hunter let out an unexpected snort and Charlie gave him a look,
"You think you're smart?" She shot my way,
"Yeah" Charlie relented, not wanting to be caught out in an argument with me. I've made a habit of winning those and she has an image to keep. While I healed Charlie, Jack was healing the other hunter and we all made it back to Bobby's place. I'd been running the woods so often that I started recognising where we were after about twenty minutes of walking. My dad had a hand on my shoulder for nearly the entire way. I was just glad they found me so soon. They had to have been tracking someone else since I was not awake for long enough to figure out where I was. Charlie maybe. Last I'd seen of dad in my dreams, they had made progress in opening a rift, only for a short time though and they didn't tell my dad it was happening only afterwards. Dad had been out looking for Gabriel. When I met with Charlie on a message, a few days ago, she was telling me she'd met Dean. Gosh, I hope we make it back home before the lectures start.
