"well?" jieun insisted, letting the phone rest on her lap so she could cross her arms. "cat got your tongue?"

"he was with us, of course." seokjin said, smiling nervously, feeling eunji's eyes bore into his soul. "we were in a sleepover-"

"so you're just gonna keep lying?" she laughed sarcastically, the younger girl shaking her head in disappointment. "i'll give an opportunity to jungkook. where were you last night?"

he couldn't say a word. his voice was stuck in his throat and he was sweating. after mumbling gibberish for some seconds, jieun sighed deeply.

"i am truly disappointed." she said, finally showing the others what she had on that phone, which belonged to the infamous eunji.

pictures of seokjin and namjoon driving jungkook to taehyung's house appeared on the screen, as well as pictures of the day they went to the ice cream parlor. seokjin and namjoon gasped, jungkook's eyes filling with tears.

"i won't allow my only son to be homosexual. that's a sin, an abomination. haven't i showed you how god feels about same gender relationships? aren't you ashamed of yourself?"

every single word that came out of his mother's mouth was like a bullet to his heart. tears started flooding like waterfalls through his cheeks, looking down at his lap, feeling totally defeated.

"you're a disgusting human being." namjoon finally said, looking at jungkook's mom in disgust and anger. "like you said, he's your only son, so you should love him the way he is. he's not some puppet that you can control as you please, he's a young adult."

"he's one of them too." eunji said, smiling in victory. "he's dating this seokjin guy."

now it was jieun's turn to look at them in disgust, handing over the phone to the owner and pointing at the living room's door. "get out of my house, now."

namjoon stood up ready to punch the woman right in the face, but seokjin grabbed his arm, shaking his head and standing up too. "it's not worth it, don't waste your time." he sighed, now looking at jungkook's mother with sadness. "you'll regret this, when you see jungkook walking away from you and not coming back. i hope you enjoy controlling him while you still can. take care." and with that, he walked away with his boyfriend, giving jungkook a reassuring small smile and leaving the place.

they stayed silent for a minute, jungkook cleaning his tears and holding the ones that wanted to fall back, looking up at his mother with determined eyes. "i love taehyung, mom. i won't be with eunji, because i don't like her. hell, i don't even like girls! i'm eighteen now, i can make my own decisions." he said, his voice cracking from time to time, but still managing to make his message clear.

"i don't care if your eighteen or thirty, jungkook. you live under my roof, so you do as i say. i won't allow you to make that mistake and ruin your image in the eyes of god. i'm your mother and you have to do as i say." she talked, standing up from the couch to appear more intimidating. "is either that, or facing the consequences."

"c-consequences?" he asked, now feeling completely small under his mom's gaze.

"you don't want taehyung to suffer, do you?"

he couldn't believe that it was his mother the one talking. sure, she was always strict and demanding, but she was being so cruel with her own son.

"no..." he mumbled, looking back down, feeling the knot on his throat appearing again.

something bad happening to taehyung? he prefers being the one suffering before seeing the boy he loved dropping a single tear.

"well, if you behave, he'll be safe. oh, and don't look for your phone, because i have it. you're grounded. and you're taking conversion therapy from now on." and with that, she left the living room, no sign of regret in her voice.

"if you stayed with me since the beginning, none of this would've happened." eunji said, a mischievous smirk drawn on her glossy lips. "don't worry, i'm way better than him. you'll forget that boy in no time."

"you can't fill the shoes of someone so important, eunji. don't even try it." he said, standing up from the couch and going straight to his room, leaving the black haired girl behind.

and he cried. he laid on his bed and cried his feelings out. he cried because of his mother, he cried because of his friends, he cried because he couldn't text taehyung after he got home like he asked him to.

he knew that crying wouldn't solve a thing, but still, tears kept falling and staining his white pillow, his sobs echoing in the room and his heart breaking into a million pieces.

taehyung was laying on the couch while looking at the roof boringly, still waiting for jungkook's text. sure, it was a dumb thing to do, but he really wanted to be sure that the younger was safe. and not getting the message was making him worry.

he was thinking about the brown haired boy until a knock on the door interrupted him. he stood up and went to open it, thinking that it may be one of his parents' friends or even the mailman.

but he was more than surprised to find namjoon and seokjin, both looking at him with worry and sadness. that was instantly a red flag for him.

"what happened, are you okay? is jungkook okay?" he asked, walking aside so they could enter his house.

"that eunji bitch took pictures of us driving jungkook here yesterday. his mom knows about your relationship." namjoon said, seokjin being too pained to talk.

taehyung's heart dropped right to his feet, his mouth and eyes widening in shock. soon, he felt tears making a pool in his eyes and his lips trembling. "w-what did she do to jungkook?"

"she's isolating him like he's a fucking pet or something." namjoon continued, anger dripping from his voice. "she's gonna force him to date eunji so she takes the gay out of him or some shit!"

"we need to take jungkook out of there." kwan entered the conversation, hugging his son, who instantly started crying on her shoulder. "we have to give him the help he needs."

"what can we do, mrs. kim? we can't just go in his house and take him, she's gonna be all over him now. how can we help?" namjoon asked, hugging his boyfriend too, who had his face hidden on his neck.

"i don't know yet, but i'll think of something." she mumbled, sighing deeply after. "but we all need to calm down first. go home and recover yourselves. we'll talk tomorrow, okay?"

they did as taehyung's mom said, namjoon and seokjin left to go home and taehyung went to his bedroom.

that night, both of the boys cried themselves to sleep, both thinking about each other and missing each other more than ever.

both asking themselves: is this the way it's all gonna end? did jieun really won?
