karls heart dropped. how stupid of him to think he could always have the boys to himself. of course alex didnt like him back, it was only a matter of time before sapnap found someone he liked.

he would be all alone. his stomach twisted into a knot as he was brough out of his thoughts by a cheering sapnap.

"yeah dude! congrats, do you have a picture? just how hot is he?" sapnap rushed out excitedly.

karl just couldnt match the enthusiasm, not when the guy he liked had a crush on someone else. he was sure he was everything karl couldnt be.

karl knew he wasnt hot, he wasnt charming. he had nothing to offer. as much as he hated it, karl tried to be happy for him.

a small giggle could be heard, "sorry, i dont have any pictures. but he is so hot, sap. like, hot damn."

karl let out a forced laugh, this was going to be hard, "good job, alex! tell us about him."

he regretted those words immediately.

after 20 minutes of alex rambling on about this new guy, who karl learned was called schlatt, alex asked the dreaded question.

"enough about me, do you two have anyone youre interested in?" alex questioned smugly.

karl began to bounce his knee, breaking out in a cold sweat. he knew if he tried to lie, he would be found out immediately, though he still tried, "nope."

sapnap remained silent, giving alex all the answers he needed from both. alex laughed, a sweet, genuine laugh. it made karls heart flutter. he didnt know how much he would miss it in the coming weeks.

◗sapnap

sapnap reached his arm over, touching around in search of his phone. the siren-like alarm tone filled his ears. when he couldnt find the source of the horrid noise, he groaned in defeat, pushing his upper body off the bed with his elbows.

he swung his legs over the side of the bed, finally triumphant in silencing the alarm. he collected his clothes and had a quick shower.

after grabbing two cereal bars, he walked outside and waited in his driveway for the bus. he sat on the ground, eating his cereal bars, resembling a child. he had one hand on his bat bag, preventing it from rolling into the road.

when the bus finally came, he struggled to get his bags on the bus. finally, alex rushed to the front of the bus and took the bat bag from his hand, pulling it up the stairs with ease.

once they were out of earshot of the bus driver, sapnap scoffed, "showoff."

alex shot a wink back, with a smug smile, "its what i do best."

something about that made his heart flutter, as he let out a small breath. he didnt know what happened, but he wanted to see that again.

once they had both found their seats by karl, all on the edge leaning oh-so close to eachother, alex snapped multiple times in front of sapnaps face. he had a puzzled look on his face, "sappy? you in there bubs?"

what was happening to him? he had never felt this way before. he just wanted to hear the pet name again and again, he wanted to hear alex. he let out a soft hum, too flustered to trust himself to speak.

what was suddenly so different about the things theyve done for years? he heard karl giggle, a soft, sweet noise. he put a hand on sapnaps knee, smiling at him, "did you hit your head this morning? finally lost those last brain cells?" he retracted his hand to set it on alexs shoulder, poking fun at sapnap.

alex ruffled his hair, laughing along, leaving a tingling sensation where their hands just were.  "uh, uhm.." he stammered out. he wanted them to touch him again. they both laughed, oblivious to the conflict he was facing.

why did he feel this way? let alone for both of them? the rest of the bus ride was filled with laughter from the two, followed by sapnaps malfunctioning.

sapnap yearned for the simple touches, but none came. he found himself staring longingly at the two when they laughed, then looked to him to see if he found it funny as well.

his heart stopped when karl turned to him and they made eye contact. it lasted for a brief moment, before karl licked his lips then turned back to crack jokes with alex.

what was wrong with him?
