Chp. 12: The Last Rescue Mission

Chloe and Halle managed to find a decent hiding place back in the restaurant of the visitor's center. For a while, all was quiet. But then, at the sound of a door opening, the sisters panicked before bolting across the room. The two of them stared back over their shoulders as they ran, causing them to crash right into Normani and Dinah. Chloe whimpered in relief as Dinah held her, Halle clinging to Normani as the ebony hugged her before guiding her to Dinah.

"Where are they?" Normani asked them.

"In there," Chloe replied, referring to the raptors that were still looking for them.

Normani and Dinah eyed the kitchen door just as the dinosaurs locked eyes with them.

"Control room," Dinah said, all of them swiftly making their way out of the kitchen.

The four of them busted into the control room before Dinah headed straight for Dennis's computer terminal. Normani carefully moved Halle to the side before racing back to the door to lock it.

"Can we call for help?" Chloe asked.

"We have to reboot the system first," Dinah answered as she stared at the screen in confusion.

The computer flashed a maze-like grid that the blonde had never seen before. Meanwhile, Normani was trying her best to lock the control room door, but to no avail.

"The door locks..." she said, "...Dinah, boot up the door locks!"

Suddenly, the door flew open, Normani hurling her back towards it seconds after to keep the raptors from coming into the room. The ebony lost her gun in the process as the raptor scratched her head with its claw. The girls screamed as Dinah bolted her way over to help Normani keep the door shut. The two of them used their backs to hold the door against the onslaught, but the raptor ramming itself against it made them buck viciously.

"The door locks have to be booted up!" Normani grunted.

"You can't hold it by yourself!" Dinah replied.

"Can you try and reach the gun!?"

Dinah stretched out one of her legs to try and bring the gun closer to them with her foot, only for her to accidently push it further away.

"I can't get it unless I move!" she said.

As Halle witnessed the terrifying scene, Chloe quickly slid into the command chair at Nerdy's terminal. She stared at the screen for a moment before realizing exactly what she was looking at.

"This is a Unix system..." she said, "...I know this..."

Halle turned her way before limping to her side.

"Look," Chloe said, "it's the files for the whole park! It's like a phone book – it tells you everything!"

Without a moment to waste, Chloe's fingers started flying over the keyboard. Halle watched in amazement as the computer started to respond to Chloe's commands.

"Now I've just gotta find the right file..." Chloe said to herself, "...that's not it...this one isn't either..."

Normani and Dinah's grunting became louder, causing Chloe and Halle's anxiety to grow by the minute.

"Chloe, c'mon," Halle urged.

Reaching another menu, Chloe spotted a box on the screen that read "DOOR INTEGRITY". She reached out and touched it, the screen beeping.

"This is the one!" she beamed before clicking on it.

After one final push from Normani and Dinah, the door finally snicked shut, locking the raptors outside. The two leaned against the door as they tried to catch their breath before making their way to Chloe and Halle.
