The blade tipped to the side and slipped from his grasp, where it crashed against the floor. His arm followed it,  the rest of his body following the falling dagger shortly after.

"Karl! Are you alright baby?"

Silver eyes flicked towards a loud voice, catching the edge of the desk with one hand he lifted his tired body away from the wooded surface. With a simple nod, he leans down to pick his dagger off the floor and drop it onto the desk. The soft clang of metal of solid wood made him jump.

"I'm fine... just tired."

The other man nods and turns to walk away, one hand resting on the door frame as he looked over his shoulder. Karl sat resting in his bean bag a book held open in one hand, the other twirling his dagger in an endless circle on the wooden desk next to him. He was paler than normal, with dark bags under both eyes.

"I could go hunting if you want, we have been short on supply lately..."

Karl lifted his head in lazy slowness. He sighed in response and rose to his feet. Brushing past his friend, he allowed his hand to trail across his back. The taller man leaned into the soft touch, a nod following his gesture.

"Hey Nick, make sure Fundy ate recently, he was looking really pale the other day."

The raven nodded, turning so his deep eyes could follow the shorter man as he vanished through an open door. He knew Karl preferred to do most things on his own, although he wished the lithe man would open up a little more. Chasing after Karl was like trying to catch a fleeting dream, it always managed to slip right through your fingers. How he'd won this beauty's heart he didn't know.

"Short on supply... ugh I never will catch a break will I?"

His vision swam as the warm scent of something human bathed his tongue. His body's immediate reaction was for his fangs to spring forward and press uncomfortably into his bottom lip. Cursing under his breathe he tried to turn away from the powerful scent.

"Oh for fuck's sake... it's my territory anyways. This is trespassing..."

Instincts, that's the only thing he was running on. The heavy undertones of what could only be hybrid filled his senses. His feet sort of glided over the ground as he ran, the familiar ground rushing in his vision. He could see the being now... wait no there were two.

"Doesn't matter..."

He slowed down, barely catching himself as he tripped on an upturned root. He spun around, righting himself and hiding behind the closest cover he could find. The tree cluster was almost too small to hide him. The closest hybrids' ears flicked in his direction and the man tensed, his hand on his sheathed dagger.

"What is it... Schlatt?"

The ram turned to look at his friend, his hands unsteady on the hilt of his dagger. He looked nervous, as he should, his eyes darting around before settling on the other hybrid next to him.

"I thought I heard running, but there's no one here."

The shorter man... he was tiny, turned to look at him. He rolled his shoulders in a strange motion and looked towards the sky. The ram placed a hand on his shoulder and shook his head. He brushed it off himself and sighed, the same rolling motion from before, and his shoulders drooped.

"We should get back soon, this place isn't on any of the nearby maps."

They both tensed hearing soft unmistakable footsteps.

"I would hope this isn't on any maps, I'm the one who owns it."

The way this man moved was predatory and instinctively Schlatt had his dagger drawn and held out in front of himself. He noticed seconds later the fangs peeking from the corners of his lips. His ear flicked towards Alex as he rushed forward, trying to push this strange vampire away. The man spun out of his attack and knocked him prone with one flick of his hand.
