"Chase, No!" Skylar screamed, trembling. She stood there, in panic watching the love of my life pace back and forth on the roof of the building. An almost empty bottle of Jack Daniels occupied his left hand.

"Chase, please. Come down so we can talk."

"Sky I ca-can't live without you," he stuttered, staggering to keep his balance. This was a nightmare that Skylar wanted to badly awake from.

"You won't," she cried, inch towards him. "Just don't make me live without you. Please don't leave me."

She never knew life would be this hectic. She was just trying to be a good person and stay focused on her career. This wasn't the supposed to happen. Love was never apart of the plan.

That was until she met Chase LaCore

Let's start from the beginning......

"Thank you so much for this opportunity. I will not let you down." I stood up and shook the hand of the owner of LaCore Press, a major web design company based out of D.C. I just accepted the job as V.P. Of layouts and designs, something I've been wanting my whole life.

"Ms. Williams, I have high expectations of you. I know you will be a great asset to this team." He gave me a warm smile as we made our way to the elevator.

"I'll give you a tour of your floor and where your office will be." He pressed the number 15 and the elevator doors closed. It was made of glass so I took the time to take in my surroundings. It was beautiful to say the least.

The elevator stopped on my floor and we got off. The sounds of phones ringing, people talking, and keys tapping hit me at once. I loved this sound. It meant money was being made. "This is your new home."

I laughed lightly. I knew that majority of my time would be spent here. I had no husband or kids to tend to and my parents lived in Michigan. He did a walk thru, showing me where everything was before walking to this corner off that had my name on the door.

He handed me my key and I wanted to cry. Not because of the corner office, but because I was a 22 year old black woman with status. Growing up, I was told I wasn't going to be good for anything but I made it out. I'm breaking barriers and setting records.

"You can decorate anyway you want. I have a meeting to get to but Amy will be by to give you your company expense card."

"Amy?"

On cue, a petite white girl came in all bubbly and with energy. "Yes. Sorry I'm late. I got held up on the 7th floor. Ms. Williams, I'm Amy Branch, your personal assistant."

She held her hand out and I shook it. "Nice to meet you and please, call me Skyler or Sky."

Mr. LaCore managed to sneak his way out the office as I got settled in. I set up the computer as well as my office phone. There was a bathroom inside of my office with a shower. I guess he wasn't playing when he said this would be my home.

After thirty minutes or so of making the place look welcoming, I was satisfied. I sat back in the chair and sighed. I think I'm going to love it here.

"Nice work Team one! We got ourselves another satisfied customer!" I yelled, walking into the conference. The room filled with cheer and whistles, which it should when we win big. I clapped my hands together.
