Stiles and I sat next to each other on the couch as my mother stood with crossed arms.
"I've waited to make sure (y/n) has healed but from now on if you guys are getting into trouble I want to know about it. Because trying a ritual that can and did basically kill both (y/n) any your friends isn't something you should be doing without a professional nearby." My lips went into a thin line staring at the ground at her feet.
"Have you done a few of them before?" Stiles asked and I glanced over to him knowing the answer.
"Not myself but my grandmother's sister has given me plenty of warnings and a safer way to perform it than what you all attempted." Stiles was taken back for a moment staring between my mother and myself.
"Great grandmother!? She still alive?!"
"140 and fit as a fiddle. She never married and now doesn't look a day over 40." Stiles gaped turning his head dramatically between the two of us.
"She'd pinch your cheeks hard for that. She looks more early 30s." Rolling my eyes at mum she smiled at me. "You told him about the immortal part right?" I nodded glancing to Stiles who was dumbfounded.
"Yeah, I did." Placing a finger under his chin I shut his mouth. "About the other things..." I started off and mum gasped.
"Oh right send them in." Mother sat down while I went to the large doors letting in Allison, Scott and Lydia. "So who's going to explain the situation to me?"
After the shortened version of the three side-effects, min sipped the tea dad brought in and thought for a moment.
"I'm afraid there isn't much to say. When sacrificing yourselves a part of you is missing. Each of your bodies is reacting in different ways to cope. Perhaps some hypnosis may help?" She gestured to me but I shook my head. It would only be a temporary fix but she knew that.
"Then why isn't (y/n) affected like the others?" Lydia asked and mum let out a sigh settling the tea down.
"As you know we Undines are immortal until marriage, this meaning we can't die no matter the blood loss or broken bones. She may have been one thread from death that night but healed slowly. That's not to say it doesn't have long-lasting effect on (y/n)s health." Stiles took hold of my hand squeezing it right making my mother smile.
"And what about me. (y/n) said you know about Banshees." Her eyebrow raised as she stood up slowly walking over to Lydia. I could see Lydia getting anxious.
"A Banshee? Quite a rare thing you are my dear. Most banshees are sent off to institutions believed to be mentally ill so I don't know much. But the whaling women is said to scream maybe start with that."

I was worried about Stiles. He's been having trouble sleeping and last night told me it might be safer if I stayed home. Which I knew he was worried about my overall health but I need no want to help him in any way I can.The group was sitting around at lunch talking through what to do, again. After the talk with my mother yesterday there wasn't much to go on. At some point, I zoned out until Stiles spoke up.
"Can you just try to help please?" The level of sarcasm made me put a hand in his thigh and squeeze it. It was so close to being angry.
"For half my childhood I was locked in a freezer. So being helpful is a new thing for me." Isaac said and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Hey, why are you still milking that?" The bantering made me sigh looking off when spotting a new girl coming over.
"Hi. I couldn't help overhearing what you guys were talking about. And I think I might know what you're talking about." we all frowned at her, surprised really. "There's a Tibetan word for it. It's called Bardo."
"In between state." I breathed out and she went wide-eyed at me as did everyone else. "What I speak five languages."
"Five?! Wha- you never tell me these things."
"I'm sorry should I be greeting you in different languages." Lydia clicked her fingers at the pair of us to shut up.
"And what do they call you?" she asked politely as I shut my mouth to stop the banter.
"Kira. She's in our history class." Her dad did call her out at the beginning of class.
"So are you talking Bardo in Tibetan Buddhism or Indian?" Kira took a seat beside me as she started talking.
"Either I guess. But all the stuff you guys were saying all that happens in Bardo. They're all states which progress, some you see some you just hear and you can be visited by peaceful and wrathful deities." I sucked in a breath moving the hair from my face.
"Wrathful meaning demons. That's just great." Saying this mostly to myself Stiles glanced over at me.
"Oh, demons why not?" He was getting anxious again. Stiles leg was jittering under the table.
"Hold on if there are progressive states then what's the last one?" Kira looked at me but didn't seem to bothered by it. She doesn't know what she's talking about is real.
"Death. You die." We'll that kinda burned the mood.
