First day at a new school. Yay exciting. Groaning out of bed I rolled over to the bathroom making myself look pretty I went straight for the kitchen. Mum was in there and I guessed dad already went to the office.

"Ok hun I'll be heading out to meet a few client's, you're father and I might be home late to get started at work." I nodded and mum kissed my cheek. "There's leftovers in the fridge." grabbing some bread I put it in the toaster mum gathered up her things.
"Best make an entrance, get those men looking." I rolled my eyes at her and mum squeezed my shoulders. "You might just find your soulmate."

"Don't get your hopes up. This is high school." She gave me a look before heading out. The house was now empty, so when taking a bite of the toast it echoed.

I never mentioned the vision I saw. Mum and dad don't need anything else to worry about. Such as a new town to live in.

Quickly changing I went straight for the car. Grabbing an apple I bit into it while locking the front door. All the books in my hands I heaved them into the back of my car before heading off. Singing along to Spotify it was a good twenty-minute drive to school and sighed when making it to the grounds.

So many people, all annoying in their own little bubble. Sighing getting out of the car I looked at the ground not really wanting to draw attention to myself. Which of course drew attention to myself.
People murmured to themselves glancing in my direction.

"Hey there..." I raised my hand at the needy boy to my right looking down at the lock and number.

"Not interested." I breathed coming to a stop at my new locker. "I'm never interested." whispering to myself I put my stuff together. First-class, English. The bell went and although it took longer than I would have intended I managed to find my way to the right classroom. Most people were seated so when I walked through the doors everyone stopped talking. "Great." Speaking through gritted teeth I found the one empty seat, towards the back. Only once I was seated looking out the window people started talking again. Murmures of who I was and why the principal didn't introduce me. My phone buzzed so I tapped it on.

'The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds and the tranquil waterway leading to the uttermost ends of the earth....' it read and our female teacher walked in reciting the text. Heart of darkness. read it. Sighing lightly my attention went back to the window while everyone grabbed out their books. The teacher came walking over.

"Hi, miss (l/n) I'm Miss Blake. I was told you didn't want to be introduced in front of the class." Biting my lower lip I put the pen down that was in my hand.

"I don't like unnecessary attention." I breathed back and she smiled lightly at me.

"Well, I'm happy you made it to class safely. If you'd like I can give you a summary of the first book so you don't need to catch up...." before she left I raised my book at her.

"I've read everything on the book list, thanks though." Miss Blake smiled nodding her head and walked back up to the chalkboard to write the next set of instructions.

"Hey Lida, what is that? Is it from the accident?" Frowning when hearing the guy in front of me talking to the girl on his left I sighed.

"No, Prada bit me." Why can't people just keep quiet for five minutes?

"Has it ever bitten you before?" Glancing up she shook her head with tightened lips. I went to get out some earphones to drown out the noise. "What if it's the same thing as the deer? You know like, how animals start acting weird right before an earthquake or something?" so they saw something too. A deer? There was a bang on the window. Blood splattered on it. A crow? Everyone's heads turned.

"A murder of crows." I breathed to myself and the pair looked back at me just before a crow smashed through the window. Followed by more. A lot more. The teacher screamed for everyone to get down crouching under the table I glanced around as hundreds of birds flew around killing themselves any chance they got. Letting out a shaky breath it suddenly stopped and the sheriff was called. Glancing around at the dead birds I breathed lightly feeling a scratch on my cheek. A few students left the room while I dabbed a wet tissue on my cheek. It would heal quickly but I needed to remove some of the blood. Hissing slightly out of the corner of my eye I saw the same guy glancing my way.

"Hey, hi my names stiles." He walked over extending his hand and I reluctantly shook. Gasping from a sharp zap that ran up my hand as we shook our hands.

"(y/n)." I gave him a tight-lipped smile starting to grab my things, not really wanting to start a conversation.

"I uh heard you say something, a murder of crows." His sentence slowed when seeing my frowing expression.

"It's an expression. You call a group of crows a murder." finding my textbook on the floor covered in feathers I slid them off putting it in my bag.

"But why say that?" I frowned at him more and rolled my eyes.

"Its. An. Expression." I repeated slowly and he just stared at me. I sighed going back to find some pens that fell to the ground. "Many cultures believed that crows were an omen of death because they're scavengers and are associated with dead bodies. They have been said to circle around a location where lots of people are expected to die. Now if you'll excuse me stiles I need to get ready for my next class." Picking up my bag I left the classroom. That guy knows more than he's letting on. Let's hope my parents don't find out about a bird suicide in my first class.
