My siblings and I were watching the news to watch my parents in front of their lab in Las Vegas because we didn't want to go with all the crowds. If you think everyone showed up to their funeral, no. More showed up to this than anything else I've ever seen. But my parents had smiles on their faces as they walked up to their podium to make their speeches about life and all that.
"Well, if it hadn't been for our daughter, we never would've found our way back here." Mom said into the dozens of microphones from the many TV news stations that showed up. "We owe it all to her."
Nathan wrapped an arm around my shoulders, laughing at the screen. "Of course they'd give all the credit to you."
"Well, I did it!" I whined, making both my siblings laugh even more. But we had our eyes on the screen as the mayor gave a speech about welcoming them back and how they needed a celebration, but they said something that caught us all off guard.
"Nah, we'd rather spend time with our family right now." They said in unison, looking directly at the camera. "Love you guys!"
I smiled, and for the first time, I felt loved.
