CHAPTER THREE
What happens next?
Four days have passed and Maya is still unconscious. We were together when she passed out but I did not know how to help her. Luckily, Gabriel, the angel who saved me, came back and took us to their safe house and I have remained by her side since then.
The door behind me opened and Gabriel came in. "She's here." He said as I turned to face him.
"Have you told her what happened?"
He just nodded and walked away closing the door behind him. For the past few days I got the chance to get to know Gabriel and he told me the reason why he doesn't speak too much. He said it's because of his angelic divinity and if I heard him talk too much I would be forced to follow his every command. I clearly didn't want that and neither did he so we've only spoken a few times since then.
A few seconds later the door opened and someone came rushing through. "Move!" She was here. Maya's twin sister, the same person who saved me from crossing the street. "Maya... What happened to you..." She was crying while trying to check up on her sister so I left them alone.
I walked out of the room and went to the garden. Seeing her reaction after witnessing her sister all injured like that made me think about my own sister. I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye. Will I ever see her again? Is it even safe for me to go back or will that woman find me? Well, it seems like staying is the better option for now.
Gabriel walked over and sat next to me. He handed me a letter. It was addressed to me but it had no sender.
"Who sent this?" I asked.
"It's from the elders. Read it." He said and left me alone. I stared at that letter for a few seconds, scared of what's inside. I had no idea what to expect and I'm still in shock after what happened four days ago. And that dream still remains unanswered.
I let out a sigh and tore the envelope open. The letter wrote:
"Jason Lockhart, you are one of us now. You've had an unusual dream that felt so real but was too strange to be explained. That was a message from one of the older spirits, a divine who has long passed. And that divine has given you a gift, a divinity that was a gift from the gods. You now have a choice, to stay with us and learn what and how to control your divinity or to go back home and risk the lives of your family. The choice is yours."
I was at a loss for words. I may have finally gotten some answers but it brought even more questions. But I do know that I am somehow special and that woman from before must have known that and if I choose to go home there's a high chance of them getting killed. I may not know a lot right now but I do know that I only have one choice. I must stay here and learn about this so-called divinity.
The view in front of me was divine for a lack of vocabulary. Gabriel took us somewhere on the mountains so this garden was near a cliff sprawling with trees and even had a stream headed down the cliff creating a small waterfall. This place seems like the perfect hideout which I'm guessing it is. I took in one last breath of the fresh air and headed inside to find Gabriel and let him know of my answer.
