A/N this is angst with an unhappy ending- sorry?? If you read this you're a masochist (but it's okay because I am too for writing this)

Reki kicked his skateboard up into his hand before he walked up the steps to his house. Langa did the same and followed him inside.

It was part of their usual routine to switch between whose house they went to after school. Today was Reki's.

Langa said a quick hello to Koyomi and Mrs. Kyan before they went through to Reki's bedroom.

He took his usual spot in Reki's desk chair as the other dumped himself and his bag on the bed.

"Ugh, I am so tired," Reki huffed. He still seemed just as energetic to Langa, but he didn't say anything.

Langa asked, "Are you still good enough to go to S tonight?"

Reki sighed, "I don't think so, sorry." Langa whined a little, clearly disappointed. "You can still go, though."

"I'd rather not," he admitted. Langa had no interest in skateboarding without Reki, so he'd probably just go home and finally get a decent amount of sleep.

"Alright," Reki replied with a yawn.

Langa laughed a little, hiding his disappointment. He knew he was overreacting, but he liked spending so much time around Reki. Langa finally sighed and asked, "are you even awake enough to study?"

Reki cried, "Absolutely not!" He grabbed his pillow and hugged it tightly.

Langa slumped back in the chair, annoyed. "Should I just leave?" He grumbled.

Reki paused. He looked at Langa with a little bit of disappointment in his eyes. "Can you stay?"

"Yeah..." He said with a sigh. That was the original plan anyway.

"Cool, 'cause I still wanna talk to my best friend, ya know?" Reki smiled as he sat up.

Langa's heart ached, but he smiled back. It's good that he's still considered Reki's best friend, especially considering his decreasing interest, but that greedy part of him still wanted more.

Reki leaned forward and started making small talk, "Soooooo, what's newwww?" Langa hated small talk.

"Reki, you know everything that's happened with me," Langa reminded him. Reki furrowed his brow and gave a lopsided frown as he stared around looking for an idea.

He perked up as soon as one popped into his head. "What about secrets and stuff?" Reki seemed as excited as a puppy, but his excitement just transferred into nauseous worry in Langa's stomach.

"What do you mean?" Langa asked for clarification. He wanted to know what he was expected to give up.

"I dunno, but you've gotta have something in there you haven't told me," Reki explained, "You're just so reserved, and even I have secrets."

Reki had secrets? That he was now willing to share? Langa's interest was piqued. "Alright, what do you wanna know?"

"Hmm," Reki pondered, "Do you like anyone?" Langa choked. He reasoned, "Come on, man! It's me. So many girls like you, so which one's lucky enough to catch your eye?"

"None of them," he grumbled honestly. He didn't like any of the girls, it was a boy. The boy in front of him who he will never openly admit to being enamoured by.

Reki hummed, "Are you sure? Or are you just being secretive?"

"I'm sure..."

"Please! I'll tell you first!"
