╭୨﹒๑゜my parents named me aislin. said it was because i was they're dream.
they supported me through everything.
when i first joined the debate team, only to discover that i was better off keeping my opinions to myself.
or when i decided i wanted to be an olympic swimmer. that ones tough to forget.
when i was six they had my little sister. named her astra. said that one day she would become they're little star. i guess they were right to think that.
where astra has straight a's, never missing an assignment. is her class president, and friends with everyone she meets- i'm passing by just fine, although opting to keep my head in a book, or my mind on another story. in another world.
overall one would see our lives as the textbook definition of normal. our lives are an open book.
nothing special, nothing different.
but there is one thing. one thing that's not in the textbook.
one thing no one knows.
that i'm a lesbian.
"Morning kid-"
"ASHGD!" I screamed, my dad startling me to the point where I fell right out of my chair. Almost immediately picking myself back up and closing my notebook.
"Damn- whatcha writing kid?" He questioned. Wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. "A love let-"
I chucked a sock at him, "OUT!" I laughed, preparing to throw my other one.
He raised his hands up defensively, "I'm going, i'm going." He kept them up until he was out the door.
I sighed, turning back to my notebook to continue writing when my dad poked his head back in,
I raised the sock in defense again , plastering as much of a threatening look on my face as I could muster.
"You gotta leave in fifteen or you gonna be late kiddo. Just reminding you as you just seemed oh so ready to delve right back into your, writing."
He laughed at that last part.I rolled my eyes, "I'll be on time. Now go, before Astra burns the house down." I said, after smelling the burnt pancakes.
He clicked his tongue, "RIGHT! Thanks kiddo," He says, pulling his head out of my door and clambering his way down the stairs. Presumably to go tell my sister that whatever she made tasted good.
The lies we tell for our family.
a couple months ago astra decided she wanted to learn how to cook. and i can whole-heartedly say this was the one thing she was not good at.
between my mom, my dad, and i we alternate between who has to eat what everyday. for instance one day i'm breakfast, my moms lunch, and my dads dinner.
short straw gets the dinner.
i usually end up trying a bite or two, then feeding the rest to our dog, or our trash can when she's not looking.
i don't want to tell her it's bad, i mean, dreams are good to have. and hey! she could get better. so for now we all try to be as supportive as possible.
even when what we're eating tastes like utter dog shi-
"AISLIN!" My dad yelled from downstairs.
