chapter 7

Josh's pov

I can't believe that she wants to get to know me, she is totally out of my league I'm terrified that I won't be enough for her

"Josh what have you gotten yourself into" I say sighing not wanting to overthink I put on my earphones pulling the duvet up so I could sleep.

"Josh, Josh, Josh" I heard someone repeatedly call my name

"Hmmmm" leave me alone

"Josh it's Millie" immediately I woke up looking at her sad face, I open my arms letting her know she can hug me

"What wrong baby" I said rubbing her back gently as she sobbed into my chest, it broke my heart everything she cried, I picked up my phone to look at the time it read 2:30am then my eyes glanced at the date and I immediately knew what the problem was.

"Baby I need you to get into the bed so I can cover you it's cold" she crawled into my bed still clinging onto me but i managed to cover us up and held her while she cried, I know Millie was 6 years younger than me but I never say her as a sister bit6 instead as my child we have always had a stronger bond and after the incident with Kim we became even closer.

"Hey stop crying you will get sick, breathe baby and get some sleep I'm here" I whisper into her ear still rubbing her back few minutes later I heard her soft breaths acknowledging that she was now asleep, allowing me to also sleep off.

Later on in the day

I was already up fully dressed and was currently working on my laptop while I waited for Millie to wake up, suddenly my phone rings without checking the caller ID I picked it up

"Hello Josh Graves speaking"

"Ohh so formal" Alicia says on the other end chuckling

"Ohh Alicia sorry I didn't check the caller ID before answering, are you alright" I asked closing my laptop to focus on the call

"I'm alright thanks for asking, I wanted to invite you today for lunch" she said excitedly i frown knowing I can't give her my time today

"Ohh I would love to but I can't today"

" Ohh, no problem then sorry for disturbing you" she  sounded so disappointed I felt guilty but I couldn't leave Millie alone

"It's just that Millie isn't feeling a 100% and today is an important day she needs me, how about I take you out for dinner tomorrow"

"Millie? What's wrong with her" she sounded alert

"Will explain tomorrow, do you accept my invitation?"

"Ohh alright, yes definitely why wouldn't I" she chuckles and I smile feelings relieved

"It's a date then, I'll talk to you later Millie just woke up take care of yourself"

"Thanks you Josh you too say hi to Millie for me"

"Definitely good bye" she replies quickly before I end the call.

"Morning sweetheart, how are we feeling" I say sitting on the bed while stroking her cheeks

"Morning Josh, I could be better" she said smiling weakly, my heart breaks as I watch her face

"Why don't you go freshen up and meet me downstairs we can spend the whole day doing what ever you want" immediately she brightens up rushing out of my bed, laughing I pick up my phone and wallet placing it in my pockets before walking downstairs

"Morning son" dad calls out from the couch as I enter the living room

"Morning Dad, where's mom"

"Where else son, in the kitchen" he laughs and I join him everyone knows my mom's favorite thing is the kitchen

"Morning Mama" I walk in kissing her cheeks before settling in a stole

"Morning hun, how was your night" she says smiling

"Alright yours"

"Tell your father to stop snoring" she says a bit loud wanting my father to hear which only causing him to laugh again, my parents are the absolute best I have never seen them angry at each other it's almost 40years of marriage and they are still so in love.

"Any plans for the day"

"Just spending it with Millie, where are the others?" I ask because I expected everyone to be downstairs by now

"Kaleb and Mace are gone for the weekend to his father's beach house, Mason and Mike went out to a game"

"Alright then" we chatted for a while before Millie came to tell me she was ready, after greeting my mom we both said goodbye to our parents before leaving

"What do you wanna do first" i asked as we got into my car

"Can we go visit her?" She said in a low voice

"Are you sure, we don't have to" I say concerned

"Let's go I'm sure" she said more firmly nodding I drove us to the cemetery where Kim was buried.

"Do you think she is in a better place now" she asks after a while of silence

"I'm sure she is also she is definitely looking down on you" I say smiling slightly at her the car ride quickly becomes silent as we arrive at the cemetery

"Do you want me to come with you?"

"No it's fine I'll only take 20 minutes" she says quickly stepping out of the car.

20 minutes later

It's been 20 minutes and I'm anxiously waiting for Millie to return,I was just about to step out before her passenger door open allowing Millie take a sit but I could see she wasn't ohk this broke my heart even more I know how hard this is for her.

"Millie?" As if that was all she needed before the floor gate opened, her cries where so painful I felt it deep down inside me, I decided to drive away than comforting her at the cemetery, I drove to the closet park which was like 5 minutes away, Once we got there I eased myself out of the driver's seat walking around to the passengers door, opening it I placed my hand under her knee and another on her back to lift her so she was seating in my lap while I was seated on the seat.

"Hey stop crying, you'll get sick" I say rubbing her back gently but she was still crying

"W..why didn't she tell me how felt we had been best friends since 1st grade, didn't she think of how painful it would be for me to find her that way, I kept begging her not to do anything drastic, Josh I miss her and it hurts so much" she said angrily

" Sweetheart you need to understand not everyone is strong enough to open up it takes a lot to let people into your personal space, I'm sure she never meant hurt you it was..."

"Well Josh she hurt me she betrayed our friendship she was my other twin this pain is indescribable" her voice kept raising as she spoke

"Millie calm down she is dead you can't bring her back she made her decision, just forgive her instead of only thinking of the negatives think of all the fun memories you guys had together over the years"

"I agree with you that she should have confined in you or a professional, but she decided not to she took that decision so let's just live with it and celebrate her life instead ohk love" I finally conclude and I can tell she is more settled no longer crying just occasional sniffs.

"Regardless what she did still hurts, I wish I can turn back time but I know I can't so I'll just live through the pain and hopefully it becomes more bearable" she said sadly

"Baby I'm glad you made peace with it always keep your memories of her alive  she was an important part of your life" I say using my thumb to wipe her remaining tears

"I will, thanks Josh you always understand" she mumbles into my chest wrapping her arms around my neck while I held her tightly kissing her forehead

"You are welcome, anything for you baby" we stayed in the embrace awhile just to make sure she was alright
