The transmitter beeped, starling Koyi who was just enjoying the quiet. She sat up in her chair as Din messed with the controls before finally allowing it to come through. The man from Guild materialized.
"My friend," he started. "If you are receiving this transmission, that means you are alive. You might be surprised to hear this, but I am alive too. I guess we can call it even. A lot has happened since we last saw each other. The man who hired you is still here, and his ranks of ex-Imperial guards have grown." The hologram flickered as he changed positions. "They have imposed despotic rule over my city, which has impeded the livelihood of the Guild. We consider him an enemy, but we cannot get close enough to take him out. If you would consider one last commission. I will very much make it worth your while. You have been successful so far in staving off their hunters, but they will not stop until they have their prize."
"Prize?" Koyi scoffed as she leaned back into her chair, pulling her legs up and hugging her knees to her chest.
"So, here is my proposition." The transmission continued. "Return to Nevarro. Bring the child as bait. I will arrange an exchange and provide loyal Guild members as protection. Once we get near the client, you kill him, and we both get what we want. If you succeed, you keep the child and I will have your name cleared with the Guild, for a man of honor should not be forced to live in exile. I await your arrival with optimism." It ended.
Koyi shifted until she sat cross-legged in her chair, eyes closed as she tried to think of some sort of plan. To her right, the Child was sleeping quietly, as though he had no care in the world. Koyi huffed in annoyance. She opened her eyes. "Din, what if this is a setup?"
"Then we'll need help."
"That's not what I meant." He was paying her little attention as he worked the controls. "If anything were to happen, I don't think I want to play with those odds."
"He never saw the bounty."
Koyi cocked her head to the side. "Who?"
"Greef Karga," he said, turning towards her. She shrugged. "The Guild member, you met him, in the cantina."
"Oh, I meant to ask for his name. You know, maybe if we meet someone that you know you should just give me their name in advance." She uncrossed her legs. "But in all seriousness, Din, do you really want to try those odds?"
"He's never met the kid. But if you think that this is a bad idea then I'll listen."
"Who do you have in mind for help?" He turned back around towards the controls and inputted the coordinates. She nodded, sitting back. Koyi knew the answer. She was the best choice. The Razor Crest moved into hyperspace, quickly moving them away from their current position. Koyi tried to make herself relax and think of the positives of this working. They wouldn't be on the run anymore. They could earn credits legally. Maybe they wouldn't struggle to get by. By the time they left hyperspace and moved into Sorgan's orbit Koyi's mind was set. If they were to lose, they would die, but death is much more forgiving than not trying at all.
As they landed Koyi was quick to open the hatch. As it opened, she grabbed her weapons belt, securing it on her waist as always. She was in the lead. Din and the Child behind her. She was excited to see Cara again. As they entered the common house, she was hit with the buzzing energy. Koyi smiled. So many positive moods made her lighter, she had forgotten how much she missed the happy crowd. As she peeked over the crowd she found Cara in a Laser-Tether match with a Zabrak. Cara had the tether around his neck, in seconds he tapped the belt and ceded. Cara had won, Koyi wished she had witnessed the whole thing based on the reactions of the crowd.
