It wasn't one. It couldn't be one. There were two very distinct circles, with babies in them.

I was having twins.

Two.

Double the average.

I guess Jack must've not understood because he said, "How many are there?"

"By the looks of it you have two very healthy babies. Would you like to know the gender?"

This time I look at Jack, unsure of how to proceed. He sees me staring at him and says gently, "You've got to decide this one. I'm not the one to make that decision."

As nerve wracking as it is, I know he's right. "Could you write the genders on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope? So we can open it when we get back at home?"

"Yes I can. That's it, I believe you can go home once you sign all necessary documents."

Jack just nods his head and I follow suit. I have a really weird sense of deja vu, as Jack signs the many papers and I wait for him. Oh yeah, I did this approximately three months ago. It goes smoothly and we're soon walking out of the hospital.

Jack is silent for the entire car drive. It worries me, but there's nothing I can do about it. I feel really bad for having hid this but they were so nice and I didn't want to be kicked out.

We arrive back at the house and get out of the car. Then he decides to speak to me. "You're going to have to explain everything at least to my mom. I would like to know also but that's up to you. Although since my mom's in charge of the house, you have to explain."

I give a soundless sigh. I know he's right but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it.

The door opens and I see everyone waiting in the living room. The girls are on their phones, while Mrs. Solstice looks directly at us.

My heart is pounding in terror, but I sit down on the couch and wait.

"Why didn't you tell us?" The confusion and disappointment was all too clear in her voice.

"I didn't want to be kicked out. I can leave now though, I just needed some time to heal."

She shook her head, "We aren't going to kick you out, you still have injuries and on top of that you're pregnant."

I smiled softly and signed, "Thank you, and I'm sorry. Again."

Mrs. Solstice shook her head and stood up, leaving towards the kitchen. That's when the girls practically jumped onto me.

They moved onto the same couch as me, while Jack tried to gently fend them off.

"Leave her alone, she needs some rest." He said in a stern tone.

They both ignored him and began asking me questions.

"What's the gender?"

"Why didn't you tell us?"

"How far along are you?"

"Do you get lots of morning sickness?"

"Why did you collapse."
