Stormy Night

When you told me to sleep, I laughed.
We spoke of music, and sound, and rest.
And in those moments
I heard the first droplets
But I paid them no mind.

Then, in a brief moment of quiet,
All was still, and I looked up.
The first droplets had turned to a torrent,
And I had missed
Its beautiful transformation.

And for a moment, all was calm,
All was peace, as the rain overtook my mind.
And in that moment,
I felt you.

In every drop of rain, I heard you sighing,
Whispering of dreams of hope and love.

In every flash of lightning, I saw your smile,
For it alights my heart, my eyes, my very soul.

In every gust of wind, I heard you laughing,
I felt you take my hand, and we danced like I never have before.

I could almost feel you lying next to me when the rain stopped.
And I couldn't help but smile,
Because I'd like to think
That somehow, you sent me a storm.
