Another short 1.2k word chapter. The next chapter is going to be worth the wait...

At least I hope so.

Sorry. I know that I'm 9 chapters in and it's literally only the second night of the trip, but I've said it once and I've said it before. I love a slow burn and I hate to rush things.

Hopefully, it's not too boring for y'all. I'm really enjoying writing and I think that this next chapter is gonna be reallll good. so

Happy Reading :)

--------------------------

You, Weston, and Kalynn sat outside for a bit after you guys had smoked.

You weren't much of a smoker, but you wouldn't lie and pretend like you didn't do it every now and then at parties and all that.

Weston and Kalynn had confessed that they were kind of the same until they had moved out. Smoking became an every night or an every other night kind of thing that they did. They'd smoke a joint and then watch a movie right before bed.

Whether they were together or went off in their separate rooms.

The thought of living like that only made you wish you could stay and live with them more.

Your friends were more familiar with alcohol. They liked to drink and so therefore you liked it too. You never were forced to drink with them, but because you had done it so many times, you kind of had to favor it over smoking.

You could feel your body was a lot more relaxed than usual, but you were also a bit more paranoid about little things that you shouldn't be.

You guys shared a few videos and stories and couldn't control your laughter.

You worried that you were being too loud and that the neighbors would come out and you wouldn't be able to act normal, but you kept trying to remind yourself that this was probably a common occurrence with them and if they weren't nervous, then you wouldn't be either.

After a few more drags, and the joint was gone.

You couldn't believe that you had finished it. Granted there were three of you, but you usually only took like two hits and were good, but for some reason you had the urge to keep going. You figured it was probably because of the comfortability you felt around Weston and Kalynn rather than in the basement of some random party your friends wanted to go to.

"I'm probably gonna head to my room. I'm kind of tired and wanna just watch some TikToks" Kalynn said standing up to brush herself off.

"Alright, goodnight!" You and Weston both smiled at her through glassy eyes.

"Do you want to go inside?" Weston looked out you, still crushing the ends of the joint with his shoe before picking up the filter and tossing it into the bush next to him.

"Only if you want to. I don't wanna sit out here alone, but it's so peaceful out here." You said looking up at the sky full of stars. Weston looked at you and then mimicked your movement, tilting his head up so that he could look at the stars.

"I don't mind staying out for a bit longer." He shrugged and you flashed a half-smile almost to thank him for allowing you to enjoy the outside.

"How comfortable is that couch?" Weston asked laughing a bit as he took a sip of water.

"It's really not bad at all, like I actually slept peacefully. Until you woke me up that is." You joked. You didn't think it was Weston who had woken you up, but because of the circumstances, it seemed fair to blame it on him.

"Yeah, yeah... Very funny." Weston mocked you a bit.

"I'm guessing you wouldn't want to sleep in my bed?" Weston said while looking away from you. You weren't sure if that was an actual offer or a joke, but the shyness in his voice told you that he was more serious than he was kidding.

"As much as I'd love to, I just don't think that'd be right." You said trying to rub the groggy feeling off of your face.

"Why because you think I'd try to do something? Because I don't want you to thin-" Weston spoke quickly as if you had already accused him.

"No, Weston. Oh my god. I already told Kalynn that I didn't want to sleep in her room so I don't want her to think that I just didn't want to sleep in her room or something, you know?" You justified yourself and Weston let out a sigh.

"Yeah, haha sorry." Weston apologized, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head.

"You look really pretty tonight." Weston said catching you off guard. You hid your face so that he couldn't see you blush, but he pulled your hand away anyway.

"Thank you, Wes." He hummed at the nickname.

Weston made eye contact with you. The kind of eye contact that you couldn't just look away from. You had seen this look from one too many guys before.

As his eyes flickered between you and your lips, you sort of froze. This was your friend. You were so determined to prove that to everyone, but you weren't so sure how much you had to prove it to Weston, especially when he had called you pretty and was now staring at you.

"What're you doing?" Weston said as if he was flipping the situation onto you. As if you had been the one that was staring at him first. You looked around and tried to think of what to say next.

"I, I don't know?" You said as a question, causing Weston to cock his head at you. He was now no longer staring at you and just returned to his normal fluid movements.

"You're an interesting girl, you know that? Always have been." You couldn't tell if that was supposed to be a compliment or not. Either way, you couldn't stand the way Weston acted toward you when you were alone vs. when you were with Kalynn and him. It was like two completely different people.

It only fueled the fire that had been lit in your brain since early this morning when he had woken you up, or... however it happened.

"I'm glad you think so." You replied back. You didn't want to waste your energy on asking why because you knew he'd probably just give you some dumb reason as to why or completely dodge your question and flip something onto you without you being able to react quick enough to snap back.

"We should probably go in soon. Mosquitos are getting a bit crazy." Weston said while standing up. You copied his movement and followed him through the door.

"Well, goodnight. I'll see you tomorrow." Weston said, holding the doorknob to his room. He waited for a second, whether it was to hear you say goodnight back or to wait for you to ask him if you could come in his room with him. At this point, you didn't really know which one.

"Goodnight Weston." You said pulling together your bed on the couch.

You laid awake for a bit, staring at the ceiling. You couldn't go on your phone because your mind was filled with the image of how Weston was looking out you outside. You hoped that he'd come out of his room, sit down and talk to you, despite how tired you were due to the fact you were coming down from your high.

Another part of you wanted him to come out of his room and get on top of you.

Kissing you gently and making little noise as Kalynn was right down the hall.

You tried to destroy those thoughts before they flourished into anything else.

What was going on?
