It was the early hours of the morning, a time you'd usually be asleep, but tonight was different. There was nothing to your knowledge that was keeping you awake but no matter how hard you tried, sleep just didn't seem to want to take over.

This was clearly not the case for Millard however, who was currently fast asleep, his arms and legs spread out onto your side of the bed and quiet sleepy noises coming from him. Normally Millard would stay awake until you fell asleep on the nights you stayed with him but tonight was one of those rare occasions where this was not case and he fell asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow. This was good since most nights he'd stay up late writing for his book or condensing his research notes.

You sighed before getting up out of the bed and making your way out of the door and towards the bathroom to wipe your face. How this action would help you had no idea but you didn't want to stay in the room and potentially wake Millard.

Sometimes it was hard dating someone who was invisible to the world, someone that only you could truly see, but in way it made things so much more special. There were moments that the two of you would share that were purely your own, the cute facial expression he'd get or the funny faces he'd pull to make you laugh at the most awkward times.

Once you'd finished in the bathroom you carefully made your way back to Millard's room.

"Where did you go?" A voice called out as you entered.

"Couldn't sleep" you answered while closing the door quietly behind you.

"Come here, I'll help" he shuffled across to make room for you on the bed and patted the spare space, gesturing for you to join him. "What's on your mind sweetheart?" You smiled upon hearing the pet name.

"Nothing much, I don't know I just feel restless and I didn't wanna wake you"

"Aww, you know I wouldn't have minded, I want to make sure you're okay and do whatever I can to help" he explained as he pulled you closer into his arms and kissed your forehead lightly.

"Just talk to me, about anything I don't mind" you spoke, snuggling up against his side and rested your head on his chest.

"Of course"

And with that Millard spent as much time as he had telling you all about his adventures while researching. He told you all about the peculiars he'd seen, being sure to take extra time to share the ones that hadn't made into his books.

These types of talks could go on for ages, most of the time they took place during the day, on the more quieter days especially since the night was usually reserved for more philosophical talks. This would surely have taken place had it not been so late.
