I am preparing to write again. Using these exercises to both help me cope with the massive cliffhanger while getting my head back used to writing more frequently.  Because I enjoy it.

Keith carefully peered over the ridge and into the basin, his  reflexes and agility rendered him nearly invisible. An energy pulse strafed his head. He looked down. "Right... bright white jumpsuit with blazing red trim." He tapped the side of his visor revealing long range scan capabilities.  "At least it's useful" he muttered dryly. Over the ridge and a hundred yards ahead was another white clad figure with a smaller form draped across his shoulder like a white and green sash. "Don't fret Lance, Keith will save you." He counted the Galra troopers. There were about a dozen, and they were closing in fast.

"Ha ha!" Lance cackled as he fired his bayard blaster. Over the shoulder, ZAAP! Another direct hit at twelve o'clock. He turned ninety degrees and aimed.

"Whoah!, it's all fun and games till you put someone's eye out" Keith teased as he mowed down a nearby android with his bayard.

"About time you showed up, blow drying the mullet, I bet?" Lance responded as he adjusted Pidge back up onto his shoulder and blasted two more attackers. Once they had cleared the field of foes, Lance gently set Pidge on the soft sandy basin floor. He and Keith collapsed into a chuckling pile of exhaustion.  Lance, now sitting up, gently placed Pidge's head on his thigh.

"So" Keith broke the silence while gently tossing a handful of white sand at Lance, "I take it your lions were damaged too, and how badly hurt is she?"

"Pidge was out cold when I stumbled across the green lion." Lance looked across the basin, pointing. "That way... of course "I" was on time with mah daring rescue, son".

"I looked around the basin, and haven't seen any more Galra forces." Keith looked concerned. He handed Lance a canteen. He eagerly chugged and made sure he saved a sip for Pidge. He gently raised her head and poured a tiny touch of water on and past her lips. She coughed slightly as her eyes opened and she grabbed the canteen.

She killed what was left and looked around blinking. "Where are we?" She realized she had been laying on Lance and awkwardly slid back a touch.

"You missed all the action, Pidge." Keith smiled at her. She looked as rough as he felt. "Red is just over that ridge, we'll go there and sleep."       "Then we'll fix the lions and go find the others." Pidge knew that by we, she obviously meant that she would fix the lions, and she was okay with that. So long as these two had her back she could work with little worry.

The trio looked up as a sound louder than thunder filled the sky.  They looked at each other and slowly smiled as they realized what was happening. The castle had found them.
