Peace.
Something she may never find.
The girl that has been trapped in her own thoughts for over a year. The daughter of a genius, asleep for what could have been the year her life completely changed.
Her numb limbs sat in the corner of a cold room created in her head. She laid her legs out on the floor, leaning her back on the cold bricked wall. She stared at the flower, floating in front of her face, laced in white magic.
Only if it was real.
———
"Elizabeth. Everything is going to be ok. I promise." The voice of her older brother spoke softly in her ear. A voice she hadn't heard in a while before another chimed in.
"Sir, her heart rate is at a steady pace." A familiar male voice spoke. "She should be waking up soon." His tone was soft and British. Jarvis.
Elizabeth couldn't help but feel bad for Tony. The brother she longed to have a better relationship with but all she ever remembered was who he was. The drunk, young adult who was never home during her teen years.
But these days, Elizabeth couldn't tell what was real. It seemed like she had been living alone in her head with her endless thoughts and perfect hallucinations of her past for more than a lifetime and no one was going to come and save her. It really was her own personal hell with no way out. And fate would make sure it stayed that way.
—1 Hour Later—
Blurred lights filled Elizabeth's lens as her eyes started to twitch. Her head felt heavy. Wiggling her fingers, her sense of touch started to slowly come back. The feeling of cold air waved over her still body. A faint sound of rustling came from the other side of the room.
"Elizabeth?" The man's voice became clearer as his footsteps approched. Tony.
Elizabeth meant to reply but only a bunch of gibberish escaped her lips then a piece of sheet filled her fist. Her eyes quickly flung open as her fist unclenched. Elizabeth's eyelids felt heavy with sleep. She squinted at the intense light in her face before it was moved.
"T-Tony" she mumbled so soft that if you weren't listening you would have missed it. "W-water. Pl...please."
His hand sweeped under her head giving her support, bringing a cup of the liquid up her dry lips. She chugged it down rather quickly. Once the cup was empty Tony set it aside and laid his free hand on her shoulder. Elizabeth stared at her brother's dark golden brown eyes, putting her hand over his reassuring him that she was okay.
She tried to smile, holding on to her brother's hand. Tony's face cracked a soft smile with relief. Elizabeth started to sit up with the help given to her by Tony. "What ha-'' Her hand quickly met her chest as she started to cough violently.
Tony's eyes flashed in fear. "Please relax. Lay back down."
Elizabeth glanced at her brother before her head hit the soft pillow. Her eyes fluttered for a moment before she gathered her words. "What happened?"
"You were in an accident... with Ben. Don't you remember?" Tony questioned.
She shook her head, meeting his worried eyes.
"It's alright. But, because of the accident you feel into a coma for-"
"-how long?" She quickly interrupted him, sitting up faster than the human eye could have ever comprehended.
Her brother sighed before the words escaped his mouth and acted upon his lips. "A little over a year."
