I'm Home Now

Gaara's POV
I'm seated at the dinner table with Temari and Kankuro both at my side, with officer Tsunade across from us.
"After we took your father away, it took us about a month to dig for information on you. But we finally found you and you're safe now. During that month, we moved your siblings far away in this town called Konoha. It's my hometown and I guarantee you that it's safe." Tsunade tells me what has happened as I process all of this information.
"It takes some time to process. It took us a couple weeks to process this, to." Temari put her hand on my back and I nod, staying quiet.
"Thank you so much for getting him back, officer." Kankuro bowed. "Is there anything we can do to repay you?"
"No no, you don't need to do that." She smiles and stands up. "I really need to get going, oh one more thing. You'll be going to Konoha High School within a week. You can go tomorrow or even next week. It's your decision." Tsunade walks to the door and starts to open it.
"Are you sure you don't want to stay for dinner? It's the least we could do." Temari calls out.
"No it's okay, I've gotta get back to the station and report in." The officer waves and walks out.
"Very well then, while I get dinner started, Kankuro," Temari turns her attention to my older brother. "Can you show Gaara to his room? He's probably tired and wants to rest." She's right, I'm exhausted.
"Alright, come on." Kankuro starts walking up the stairs and I follow close behind.
"We did our best to buy clothes that you might like in two or three different sizes so if they don't fit then you can put them in a pile and let us know." Kankuro goes by the door.
"Take your time and open the door when you're ready." He smiles at me, a genuine smile that I haven't seen in a long time.
Inhale... exhale... I do that two more times before I put my hand on the door knob and turn it. The door pushes forward revealing a big room, with a full sized bed, a desk, a tv, a closet, and a dresser waiting for me. The thing that caught my eye most was the teddy bear that I had as a little kid. I let out a small gasp and walk toward it. That's the same bear that's gotten me through the bullshit I've experienced. I thought I lost it for good.
I feel hot tears streaming down my face as I pick it up. I turn to Kankuro, hugging the bear like I would lose it again.
"Thank you, for saving this for all these years." I get pulled in by my brothers arms and he soothes me.
"Don't mention it little brother. There's some clothes in the closet and the dresser that you can choose from. The bathroom is in there, clean up and relax, okay? I'll be downstairs if you need anything." Kankuro lets go and shuts the door.

Time skip to 20 minutes later:
I go downstairs after freshening up to see Kankuro setting up the table and Temari finishing up dinner.
"Need some help?" I ask and walk to them.
"No we got it, you can wait in the living room if you'd like." Temari smiles and makes her food.
"Oh did you see the phone that was on your night stand? I set that up for you before you came home, so it's all yours." Kankuro points out and sets down the last plate.
"Oh that was mine? Okay, thanks." I get a little flustered because I'm not used to this kind of stuff.
"Also, we got you registered for school and told the headmaster about everything. So he said you can take your time and start whenever you would like." Temari brings the food to the table. It looks like ramen.
"Okay, I was actually thinking about that in the shower. I would like to forget my past as soon as possible. So I wanna start tomorrow." I looked up confidentially and my siblings looked at each other.
"You sure you don't wanna take a day or two off?" Temari says.
"I'm sure." I nod. "I just want to get started on a new life."
I'm not too good with confrontation, so that took a lot out of me. I sighed and looked at the food put in front of me.
I wait as my siblings sit across from me and give their thanks for the meal. I do the same and sit there.
"Gaara, aren't you going to eat?" Temari looks at me as she takes her first bite.
"O-oh, sorry.." I stay quiet and eat silently.
After eating, I say that was the best food I've had in a very long time. And I'm happy for that.
After dinner, I helped with the dishes then went to my room to sleep for the night.
I sit on the bed and look at my phone that's laying on the night stand. I don't think I've ever touched a phone in my life, so trying to figure it out was a hassle.
I turned it on after finding the button and the lock screen was a picture of Kankuro and Temari making silly faces. I chuckle to myself and tear up. The bottom of the phone says "Swipe up to unlock." So I do as it tells me and it comes up with a whole new screen, but with the same picture as the background. There's all of these apps installed that I'm not too sure about. Sure, I've heard of them from other people. But I've never actually had access to use them. The one that I heard most about was "Instagram". So once I found the name and logo, I opened it up and made a new profile, but left the profile picture blank. I didn't think my profile was that worthy of a picture.
After that tedious effort of making a profile, I turned my phone off and set it down. I lay down on my back and look at the ceiling. Was I even prepared for school tomorrow?
I'm sure Temari and Kankuro have it figured it out.
Surprisingly, I doze off really fast, soon falling into a deep sleep.
The night went by with countless nightmares, comfort from my siblings, and me, who was afraid to fall back asleep by four am. But I can't say that was the worst sleep I've gotten.
