After everyone arrived back on the Waverider, and Captain Lance was home safe, Ava wanted nothing more than to appreciate her fiancé.
After they both took a much needed shower together, they laid down in their respective spots on the bed for the first time in forever. Ava held Sara and they sat in comfortable silence for a few moments. Ava lets out a small laugh, and when Sara looks up at her, she's smiling down at her.
"What?" Sara says, involuntarily smiling.
"You're so pretty," Ava responds, running her hand through the shorter blonde's hair.
"You know, you're the only one that's ever made me believe that. Compliments mean nothing to me unless they come from you," Sara says, nuzzling her head into Ava's neck. Ava smiles, and tries to think of a response, but before she can speak, Sara whispers, "I love you so much," into her neck. Ava felt her fiancé's warm breath, and finally let it sink in. Sara's back. She's safe. This isn't a dream.
"I love you so much," she replies, kissing Sara on the head. "Maybe we can finally re-organize that weapons closet," she adds.
"I would love nothing more."
"Really?"
"Okay, maybe I would love something more."
"And what would that be?"
"A kiss," Sara smiles, knowing she's smooth. Ava leaned down to kiss her. It was soft, and quick. When they backed away, they looked into each other's eyes, and smiled.
"You better not leave me again Ms. Lance," Ava says, her smile fading. Sara doesn't say anything. She just nuzzles back into Ava, and breathes in. After a minute she says, "I'm here now. We're here now. Together. That's all you need to worry about."
