They woke up tangled up with one another. Ava woke up first, and had to make sure Sara was okay. All Ava could think about was the time they spent apart, and she didn't want that to happen to her again. She wouldn't let it happen.
-- later on the bridge --
"Okay, kids, I know it's my first official day back, and you all want to party, but we still have a problem at hand. Me not being abducted doesn't mean that there aren't aliens running around history," Sara says, getting back into old habits.
"There's a small bug-like creature flying around the White House in 2012." Ava chimes in.
"Looks like we're having another run in with Obama," Mick says from a chair, beer in hand.
"I'm sorry- another? run in? You guys met Obama??" Spooner questions.
"It was young Obama, we had to save him from Gorilla Grod," Sara says. She gets a few confused looks, but just moves on.
-- Washington D.C. • 2012 --
The Legends are walking down the street towards the White House.
"Okay...Ava, Nate, Behrad, you guys are team A. The goal is to infiltrate the White House without drawing any attention."
"Spooner, Constantine, Astra and I are on Alien duty. I'll call Alex to see if she knows anything about our Alien, and if we don't get anything, Astra and John can use their magic. Mick, Zari-"
"B Team." They both say from the Waverider where they were left behind.
"All right," Sara starts, "split up."
"Wait, babe," Ava says, pulling Sara aside, "Are you sure you're ready to be out on the field?"
"Don't worry, I've got this."
"What if-"
"Babe. I'll be okay."
"Can we at least stay on the same team? I'm sure Nate and B have it covered." Sara gives Ava a sympathetic smile, and grabs her face, kissing her on the forehead.
"Babe, I love you. However, if we stay on the same team, there will be no one to keep the kids in check." Ava frowns, and grabs Sara's wrists that were still next to Ava's face. Ava leans in and kisses Sara, and then looks at her worriedly.
"Go get em', captain Lance."
"You too, captain Sharpe."
-- after the mission --
Ava and Sara are eating dinner together in the kitchen. Ava tries to feed Sara a noodle, but they end up getting pasta on each other.
"Let's lady-and-the-tramp it," Sara says laughing.
"Okay, here," Ava says, laughing as well. They both put the end of a noodle in their mouth, and slowly eat it from both ends until their lips connect. They kiss slowly, but passionately, and they laugh as they finish swallowing the noodle.
When they're done eating, Sara starts doing the dishes. She's drying her hands off when she feels Ava's arms around her waist. Ava puts her head on Sara's shoulder, and they sit together in peace. Eventually, Sara turns so that they're facing each other, and hugs her. Ava expected a kiss, but she likes this better. They take a few minutes to just appreciate the fact that they're both there.
They hear a knock on the wall, and slowly back away from the hug. Ava sniffles. Sara didn't realize she had started crying.
"Hey Ava..hey Sara." Spooner says from the doorway. "I just wanted to say welcome back. I know we haven't really interacted much, but I can already tell you're a damn good captain."
"Is this a trap?" Ava asks, jokingly, "Because that's the nicest thing I've ever heard you say."
"Well, with the way this team talks about you, and the hell we went through to find you, I don't think there's anything bad to say." Sara smiles, and walks over to Spooner.
"Welcome to the team, kid." She says, shaking her hand. Spooner leaves, and Ava looks lovingly at her fiancé. "Come here," Sara says through a grin, and she holds her hand out. They walk arm in arm back to their room.
