Recently, I've had the flu and it turned into bronchitis, a sinus infection and pink eye leaving me not able to write. I had a bit of writer's block on this chapter, so sorry! But enjoy!

I took a sip from the hot cocoa that tasted like God’s gold.

A.K.A, it was the best tasting hot cocoa ever.

Cole and I were at a café that took a 30 minute drive to get to, since his “pack territory” was in the middle of nowhere. It was 8 PM so it wasn’t packed.

I snorted. Werewolves are weird.

We haven’t spoken a word since being in the kitchen. The car drive was quiet and awkward.

I stirred my hot cocoa with a stick and said, “Cole, what’s up?”

He looked up from starring at his coffee, “What do you mean?”

I sighed. “I may have only known you for, well, a day, but you haven’t said a word and your silence is freaking me out a bit. Something’s going on in there,” I motioned at his head with the stirring stick, “so talk.”

He sighed, and looked like he was contemplative thinking. He finally spoke. “I should have been there for you.”

“Cole, you didn’t even know me. I didn’t know you. No one knew about my…relationship with Kyle.”

“It doesn’t matter. While you’re were getting hurt,” He spat out the word, and his eyes turned darker. I didn’t know that shade of green was even possible. “I was at my pack, searching for you. I wasn’t there for you.”

I sat there, plotting what to say next. I mean, what do you say to a guy that cares about you to the point they beat their self-up for not being there?

“Cole, no one was there for me. I kept it to myself because I wanted to. I didn’t want people to see how weak I was, for letting him do that to me. When he said, ‘I love you, I won’t do it again’ I believed him. Even if you were there, I’m not sure what would have happened. But remember, the present is a gift and the future is a surprise. To keep going you can’t look at the past. You can’t change that. Okay?”

“Okay.” He sighed.

I reached for his hand, grabbing it lightly, tingles shooting their way up my arm. He looked up at me and squeezed my hand. It was so warm and felt safe.

I was surprised at my own boldness and how his touch made me feel this way. “So, um, what is this whole mate thing again? I was made for you or something?”

“Yes. And by the moon goddess she made the most perfect mate for me.”

I blushed, looking down at my now cold cocoa.

“Listen, Kitten, there are a few more things I’d like to tell you.”

“Go on.”

“Mates have a…process. I actually have to claim you.”

I raised an eyebrow.

“I have to bite your neck, but-“

“What?! You’re a werewolf, not a vampire!” I yelled. There was a person in the back of the café on his laptop, and he was staring at me. “Um, sorry. We’re actors practicing…?”

The man stared for a few more seconds and then looked back to his laptop.

“You’ve got to be kidding me! Bite me!?” I whisper-yelled.

“It will leave a permanent mark on you, claiming you as mine so no other were wolf can have you! It hurts for a bit but-“

“You’re crazy.”

“There’s more.”

“Oh for fuc-“

“To complete the mating process we have to…well, have sex.”

My jaw was to the ground. This was all outrageous.

“So, that’s the mating process?” I managed out.

“Yep, and then you are completely mine.”

I stood up. “Well, that’s not going to happen pal.”

He stood up to, mirroring my movements. “Oh yeah? Wanna bet?” He grinned.

I was walking out the door. “Oh please. I would have you on your knees for me before you could even get me to hug you.”

Right when my words left out of my mouth, I was pinned up to the café wall. We were outside now and it was super chilly considering I didn’t have a jacket on.

“Oh, really?” Cole asked, his mouth dangerously close to mine. We were so close I could feel the heat come from his mouth.

Think Heather. Don’t fall in the trap.

I mentally grinned. I bit my lip and tried putting my puppy eye face on. I put my hand in his hair and took him a little bit closer to me, leaning his head down so it touched mine. “Furry Babe, it’s so on.” I then walked away, trying to swerve my hips as I did. I wasn’t sure where my confidence came from, but boy did I love it.

When I was by his car, I turned around to see him in the same place we just were. His eyes were a bit wide, his mouth slightly parted.

“You coming? I kind of don’t know where your pack is.”

He looked up and started walking my way. He took the keys out of his pocket and we got into the car.

Oh yeah, I thought. I’m going to enjoy this.

Game on doggy boy. Game on.
