I've been watching that show Lab Rats too much.
I thought the song Soap by Melanie Martinez would be the song for this chapter...?
"He is holding his wolf back from killing everyone in this room."
"What? What does that mean? Cole?" I asked, searching his face for an answer. He was too busy deep breathing, gripping the hospital bed.
Doctor George Reynolds looked to me. "The last day of the Heat, wolves take everything as a threat, and become extremely protective of their mate."
"How adorable." My mother gushed.
The doctor grinned. "Until he rips your head off."
"Wh-what do I do?" I asked, my fingers played with the IV cord. I wanted out of this place.
"Right now, relax, stay still and listen. You are going to have faint scars from where the sharp mirror injured your hands. I cleaned them up, and you can take the wraps off in 5 days. And here," he handed me a pamphlet. "Open it when you are alone."
I nodded and put it in the back of my jeans pocket, along with my phone. He looked to my parents. "I suggest letting Cole take her home his uh...own way, and see Heather tomorrow. I know this seems blunt, but I really don't feel like cleaning up blood." He took the IV out and bandaged that, too.
Cole was getting worse. His knuckles looked like they would break any second.
"Bye Heather. I love you." My dad said, my mom came over quickly kissing my forehead saying, "Tomorrow, we talk."
Then it was just me and Cole.
"Come with me." I got up, and found my way through the hallways of the hospital until we were in the woods behind the parking lot.
Cole immediately turned into the familiar dark brown wolf, howled, and nudged at my butt so I sat on him. I laid on my stomach, snuggling my head into the crook of his neck. He started to run, and I gripped onto his fur.
I talked to him, delicately.
"Thank you, Cole and your wolf, Alex."
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. "Thank you for saving me, and giving me a light I didn't think was possible to ever see again. I know at first, I wasn't accepting. I mean, you try and be told there's a supernatural world out there and you are mated to one of them."
His wolf snorted. Sure, this relationship was moving quickly but you know what, who's to judge when it's true love and...well, supernatural.
"Thank you for showing me what it is like to love, and be loved, without bruises or blood."
I snuggled closer to his neck.
"And I, Heather Alice Lyalls, accept you as my mate. I...I love you, Cole Alexander Andreas."
Cole's POV
My wolf was in complete control of my body, and he kept running to our home.
"And I, Heather Alice Lyalls, accept you as my mate. I...I love you, Cole Alexander Andreas." The words kept repeating in my head. I never thought the feeling of happiness could be this strong. I was overjoyed, relieved and amazed at how beautiful my mate was. I couldn't wait till my wolf gave me back control, so I could hold her and tell her everything is going to be okay.
I didn't care what it took. I would make her safe and happy.
Her words gave me courage I would not be able to find anywhere else. My wolf saw our home and slowed to a trot. Since Heather and I were in the Heat, it would take a lot to gain control of my wolf.
