Meanwhile, in the office, Tristan was busy attending a meeting and the date today had slipped his mind. He totally forgot about Sienna and like everyday he worked overtime that day too. His phone was on silent and he didn't bother to check it too. It was past midnight when his stomach grumbled and he thought about going home.
That's when he remembered about Sienna. He checked the time again and pulled out his phone. He looked at all the texts and calls he had received from her, the last one being hours ago. He assumed she had already slept and given how lazy she is, she must be thanking him giving her one more day to stay home. He shook his head lightly as he thought of it as nothing.
But, his eyebrows creased as he wondered whether or not she has eaten anything. He decided to call his butler to ask him. The call rang once and at once a voice was heard on the other side, "Mr. Ellison, is something wrong?"
"I'm sorry to disturb you Mr. Barnes but I was wondering whether you cooked something for Sienna or not."
"Madam said me to go home early today and so I didn't prepare anything for her. She was looking forward to dining with you."
"Okay. Thank you." Saying that he hung up.
He wasn't sure whether she had eaten or not. So he called his assistant and asked her to order his favourite meals for two people from his best restaurant and have it delivered to the beach house.
Mr. Taylor, Tristan's driver, was already waiting downstairs and as soon as he entered the car, he ordered him to drive fast to the beach house. It wasn't a big deal to him that he had forgotten about her. In fact, people always waited for him and he never cared but today he wanted to reach fast and he was almost upset that he stood her up. Before his mind could wander over those thoughts, he pulled out his phone and started going through emails. He really was a workaholic and it was second nature for him to always work.
It wasn't until an hour that he reached the house. He hurried into the house that looked calm and dark and beautiful from outside but inside there was a storm brewing. Storm of hurt and emotions.
As soon as he entered the house he saw her in the darkness sitting still gazing at the beach. He walked up to her and softly called out, "Sienna! I thought you'd be asleep."
"Yeah since you decide not to come."
"I didn't."
"So what you miraculously came late. What excuse do you have? And how many times is it going to happen. I know understand that you were never serious. What do you think of me as?"
"Friend." He said, because who asks their secretary to a date right? She looked at him with red, round eyes and uttered, "Friends? Fine."
"And I lost track of time and forgot about the dinner." She roughly removed her hand from his grip and stood up without answering.
"Where are you going?" He questioned looking at her face in the moonlight. She looked pretty.
His eyes raked down from her face to her shoulders and then down to her toes.
"Let me make it up to you." He swallowed unable to remove his eyes from her face. He was star-struck.
And just at the right time the bell rang and a security guard came to deliver the food Tristan had ordered. He touched her shoulder and said, "Have dinner with me." She didn't utter anything and sat back on the sofa.
'If he wants to become friends, then friends it is.'
Tristan was tired but he didn't show it to her. Even though he wanted nothing more than sleeping at that time, he still served the food into the plates for both of them and set the table on his private beach. Seemed like the perfect time to use it. In no time, the table was filled with delicious food and Sienna could smell it from inside. Even though she was angry that he forgot about her and he thought of her as a friend she couldn't deny her hungry stomach. However, she wanted to spend to spend as much time with him as possible and also protect her heart. Deep down she knew it was impossible but she convinced herself otherwise.
Her eyes followed Tristan everywhere. He had discarded his suit jacket, rolled his sleeves and loosened his tie. He had turned the lights on allowing him to secretly stare and also to be stared at. H looked just like he came out of a fashion magazine. And not it even a blind person, could deny that he looked ridiculously hot while working with so much concentration.
After fifteen minutes or so, he called out to her. She was in a better mood than before and even smiled at him for a second. Tristan pulled out a chair for her and went across the table to sit on his own when he heard a soft voice, "Sit here beside me."
He dragged his chair near her and sat down. The tension in the atmosphere was now decreasing with the smell of the tasty food and the gentle breeze of the beach. Tristan also felt the tiredness leave his body as he looked at the gentle smile on her face.
"Let's see what you've ordered. " She exclaimed clapping her hands. Her eyes widened in happiness as she saw various Chinese food on the table.
"How'd you know I like Chinese?"
"You cussed the hospital everyday for not giving you Chinese food when you were there." She laughed when he said this and immediately started checking out all the dishes.
"Noodles, Black bean soup, chicken fried rice, Prawn toast, spring rolls and even dumplings. Gosh, this is absolute heaven. You're amazing." She squealed unconsciously holding his arm and laughing. However, her boss didn't seem to mind at all.
Soon, they were both eating and Sienna was moaning time to time due to the taste causing discomfort to Tristan in a not-so-innocent way but she failed to notice it. They ate everything one by one till all the plates were empty. Tristan had now moved closer to her and had put an arm around her to keep her warm from the cold weather. They gazed at the sea in silence each thinking about their own feelings while enjoying each others company.
Suddenly, Sienna pulled out her phone and asked him, "Do you want to dance?"
Tristan laughed loudly, his deep voice resonating through the silent beach. "Of course."
A Thousand years blasted through her phone and Tristan gripped her waist from behind as he stood up. They swayed to the music and Sienna rested her head on his shoulder.
He buried his face in her hair and he lightly whispered in her ear, "Did I say how beautiful you look?"
"You didn't." He lightly chuckled.
"You look gorgeous."
"Mm-hmm." She hummed.
"I can go home alone tomorrow if it is too much for you to drive me back."
"You want to go home?"
"Do I have a reason to stay?"
"No you don't. But can't friends spend weekends together?"
"I don't think we're in that position." Tristan's eyes darkened and his jaw clenched hearing her words. He twirled her around and pressed against his chest facing her. Her face was a little red but nonetheless, it added to her beauty. Every time he looked at her, he couldn't avert his eyes and stared at her till he was forced to blink. She looked a small little squirrel in his arms. She was ignoring eye contact and before he could complain she laid her head tiredly on his chest and looked at the beautiful sea in front of them. The fresh air invaded her lungs and it felt soothing as it touched her burning skin.
"This conversation has not finished. We'll continue it tomorrow morning." He said before joining her in looking at the scenery. There sat a comfortable silence around them as they witnessed the moon go down and the sun rise in its place.
