"You got another F?" Taylor was woken up by the sound of yelling in the hotel room next to hers. It was only 6 in the morning, which was 1 am in New York. She crept out of her room into the hall.
"I tried my hardest!" A young girl's voice yelled. She heard tears through the thin walls. She felt sympathy.
"I don't want you to feel dumb. But we should hire a tutor for you." The woman's tone softened. Taylor assumed this was her mother.
"Will they be nice?" The child whimpered.
"Of course. We're not hiring someone to yell at you. People are good at different things. You're amazing at running." A man's voice comforted the child.
Taylor went back into her room, realizing she didn't have her disguise on. She barely saw kids but felt sympathy for them. They might have different situations than her, but she wanted to help them.
She went down to the lobby for breakfast after another hour of sleep. She wanted to find that family, but there were lots of families there. There was no way she could find them.
"I'm worried we made her feel small." A woman said to a man.
"Me too. Her self-confidence is almost nonexistent, and yelling at her doesn't help." The woman began to cry, and the man hugged her.
"I've yelled at her too. It's ok." Taylor wished that this was what her parents had done. If her mom had stayed.
"Can you go and get her? I'll get food for her." The man said. The woman nodded. Taylor had just finished her breakfast and decided to see if she was right. She got on the elevator with the woman.
"What floor?" The women asked.
"5," Taylor responded.
"You're on the same floor as me," The woman didn't have to press any more buttons.
Taylor walked to her room, and the woman walked into the room next to hers. She came out with a young girl who couldn't have been older than 9.
Taylor grabbed a fork from her bag and walked out. The woman and the girl stood with her on the elevator.
When they got to the lobby, the woman and girl sat with the man. Taylor eavesdropped on their conversation. They continued to talk about running and tutors.
"Hi. I couldn't help but overhear you." Taylor walked over to them.
"You were saying something about a tutor? I love kids and teaching." The woman was wearing a fancy dress, so Taylor assumed they would pay well.
"Abby, would you get me a spoon?" The mother asked. Abby skipped to the food.
"Do you have college credits or a resume to show us?" The father asked. Taylor pulled out her phone and showed them both, hoping that proof she went through school was enough.
"Would you excuse us for a moment?" The mother and father whispered for a while.
"We would love to have you as a tutor. Do you live here in London?"
"Yes."
"We live an hour away. Our house is being remodeled." The mother explained why they were in a hotel.
"I'm John. This is my wife, Marian." Taylor shook their hands.
"I'm F-." She forgot to say her fake name.
"I'm Taylor Swift." She said, hoping they didn't notice her slip up.
"This is Abby. Abby, this is your tutor, Taylor." Abby handed Marian a spoon. She smiled at Taylor and hugged her. Taylor was thrown off guard, but Abby seemed sweet.
"Abby is 9 years old." Abby tugged at one of her black pigtails.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." She exchanged numbers with John and Marian. They texted her some things Abby needed to work on and figured out a schedule for tutoring her. She was homeschooled, so any time worked.
"How's London?" Taylor facetimed Matt at lunch.
"It's great. I just got a job as a private tutor." Matt smiled at her.
"How are things back there?" Taylor asked, noticing the familiar walls of his office.
"They're good. I wasn't supposed to tell you, but I think Will and Jess want to text you back."
"Good. I've missed them. And you."
"It's been one day," Matt replied. His office door opened.
"Hi, Matt. Who are you talking to?" Abigail asked.
"Taylor," He said in a quiet voice in case anyone was listening.
"Hi, Taylor. There are still paparazzi outside of our building, asking us where you are. Do you think they'll give up?"
"They won't if they have any reason to think you know where I am. If they find evidence, they'll stay." Abigail nodded.
"I like the blonde, curly hair and blue contacts." Abigail noticed Taylor's disguise.
"Thanks. It's growing on me." Someone knocked on Matt's door.
"I have to go. Talk later?" Taylor agreed and hung up. She hated that no one could know who she was. But that was how it was going to be.
A/N:
This chapter is kinda boring bc it's a filler and explains how Taylor gets a job
The next one is better
