TIMELINE: Oriental Fighters time, Canon timeline

INSPIRATION: Well, I don't want to spoil, but I will say that although this is canon timeline, I wanted to write what could happen if someone died.

WARNING: Major character death, heavy angst (takes place in canon timeline of Mobile Legends, but events that transpire in this oneshot DID NOT happen). Not reread for mistakes, apologies in advance

Ling stormed up the ladder of their attic and opened up the latch leading to the rooftop, letting it fall open with a loud thud.

His movements were aggressive and his usually calm face now sported a deep scowl. It was no secret that fighting with Zilong was a normal occurrence, but they were mostly petty and held no real resentment. Thus, fights that ended in yells, excessive insults, and doors banging close rarely ever happened.

So when it did, naturally, nothing good would come out of it.

He hoisted himself up until his feet landed on the rooftop, steps never losing their poise. The assassin was greeted with the cold night breeze, gently caressing his face like a mother trying to soothe her agitated child. The only reason he came here was because it was his familiar refuge, one of the places he goes to in times when he needed to calm down. The rooftop was perfect for it in many ways.

Since the Oriental Fighters headquarters was located in the highlands of the misty mountains, the climate was chilly at all seasons, although it was more humid during spring and summer. In the present time, he could see the trees' bright green leaves start to turn to yellow and orange, summer giving way to autumn in the distance.

It was a never endless cycle Ling is used to witnessing ever since he was young, but he would have to admit that there was something about winter that appealed to him the most. There was a serenity with how the snow quietly fell, bringing with it silent comfort to the surroundings. It was accompanied by the dainty crystalline snowflakes that would carpet the nature around along with the soft snow. Then peace would hang around with the silence, since the animals that sing during the spring would be asleep or hibernating during that point.

Ling took a deep breath to bring himself back to the present.

The assassin made his way to the edge of sturdy roof and sat down gracefully, one leg crossed under his other that dangled over the edge. The sky was painted a soft gold and orange, with pink and purple hues at it's end as the telltale of the upcoming nightfall. Slowly setting into the horizon, the sun's rays outlined the trees and mountains in the far distance a golden glow.

He le himself enjoy the scenery to try and forget the events that transpired minutes or maybe an hour ago, but Zilong's words still felt like a dagger stuck to his chest.

"You're not as strong as you think you are, Ling! I'm not saying that I'm better in any way, but I am the leader of this team so you're going to listen to me."

The frown on his face only deepened, his magenta eyes almost sharpening to slits. News that the black dragon has arrived only meant that war is slowly approaching, and of course it was the job of the Oriental Fighters to stop whatever he was planning with his mistress, Luo Yi.

The four of them, including Zilong's little sister Chang'e as their mage, had been discussing the game plan on how they were going to face Yu Zhong when the time comes. Zilong declared that they would create a formation for the team to attack together and use the element of surprise when they invade Dongyu, Luo Yi's hometown, to find the Black Dragon's hiding place. Ling had then proposed that he would go first, insisting the he could defeat Cadia Riverland's biggest threat alone. He was the best assassin they had after all, right?
