Chapter 1: A Quiet Town Shattered, Briefing With Shaw, A Complete Double Shock

Opening Scene:

A body of a shirtless man slumps over onto a bed, neck slashed. The killer says in a female voice, "Such a shame! We did have a little fun before you had to go."

The scene starts to pan upwards to a woman dressed in sexy lingerie. She holds a bloody knife in her hand. The scene pans to her face, and a woman who looks very familiar smiles in delight.

"It feels so good to be back!" the woman says. She smiles down at the body and says, "I will lure you two to me! It's time for us to have a little reunion, Xena and Gabrielle!"

Two weeks after the mission with Gabrielle's uncle Jake, Xena and Gabrielle pull into the small town of Casa Mountains, California. They stop in front of the Casa Mountains Police station and get out of the Jeep.

"So why did Agent Shaw want to meet us here again?" Gabrielle asks.

"The sheriff is working with her and a new FBI Agent on a case involving a serial killer who is killing people around here and the surrounding area. I guess they think we can help them catch the killer."

"I hope we can!" Gabrielle says. "It was great that Agent McBain is working with Uncle Jake to reduce his charges! He may not see jail time at all." Gabrielle says.

"The look on his face when the FBI froze his accounts said it all, though," Xena says. "Been a while since I saw a grown man cry, but hopefully, he learned his lesson."

"I think he did," Gabrielle says. "After everything is over, he's going back home. Mom and Rachel will be so happy to reconnect with him again."

"Are you still freaked out that he has a thing for me?" Xena asks.

"A little, but I know he won't try anything else after we set him straight," Gabrielle says

"Xena! Gabrielle!" a voice says. They turn to look and see Agent Shaw and an older man in a sheriff's uniform walking to them. "I'm so glad you made it," Shaw says. "This is sheriff Daniels."

"So glad to meet you two." Sheriff Daniels says. " Agent Shaw told me that you two could help in this case."

"Nice to meet you," Xena says. She looks at Shaw and then asks, "I thought you were training a new agent?"

"She's running a little late." Shaw says. "Let's go inside, and I'll brief you two on this person."

They go inside and into a briefing room. Sheriff Daniels hands Xena and Gabrielle a file and says, "Three months ago, my men and I received a strange call saying that one of our young residents, Asher Rivers, was dead. When we got to his apartment, we discovered him naked with his throat slashed. We started looking for evidence right away and found this." Sheriff Daniels puts an ancient dagger wrapped in an evidence bag. Xena and Gabrielle stare at it, with strange looks on their faces, as though they recognized the dagger. "A week later, another young resident, Chad Barns, was found in his car; again, he was found naked, and throat slashed. Another ancient dagger was found. We had a DNA analysis run on both men and found that the killer is a female. Last week we were called to an apartment and discovered Chris Jackson, the mayor's son, dead. Throat slashed, and he was just shirtless. We questioned people living in the apartment building if they saw anyone go in with Chris, and a neighbor said she saw a young woman in her 20's arrive with Chris. The neighbor said the young woman was around 6 feet, blonde wavy hair, and looked very athletic. Chris and the woman stopped to talk to the neighbor, and when the neighbor asked her what her name was, she gave her the weirdest name."

"What was that?" Xena asked with an intrigued look on her face.

"The neighbor said that her name was Callisto." Sheriff Daniels says.

Xena and Gabrielle get shocked looks on their faces as Gabrielle says, "What did you say?"

"Callisto." Sheriff Daniels says.

"That's why I contacted you two." Agent Shaw says. She then looks at Sheriff Daniels and says. "You know about Xena and Gabrielle, right.

"Yeah, they're the reincarnated warriors from ancient times." Sheriff Daniels says. "My daughter basically worships you two. You two are her heroes. If she knew I was standing in front of Xena and Gabrielle, she would freak out."

"Anyway, Callisto was a foe of Xena and Gabrielle back in ancient times." Agent Shaw says. "Major history between the three." Shaw looks at Xena and Gabrielle and says, "The neighbor took a picture of this woman leaving the building. I don't know what she looked like in ancient times, but look at this."

Shaw hands Xena and Gabrielle a photo, and a shocked look appears on both their faces as Gabrielle says, "What the hell! It can't be!"

Xena stares at the picture, examining the face, and says, "Wow!!"

"Agent Panos should be here soon." Agent Shaw says. "She'll have more information on this woman."

Xena and Gabrielle look at the picture, and Gabrielle says, "I can't believe this!! It looks exactly like Callisto!"

"Hopefully, this other agent will have more on this woman," Xena says. "Maybe it's a crazy woman who just looks like her."

"If it is her, though, how did she get here! In this era!" Gabrielle says.

Xena and Gabrielle continue to stare at the photo when a woman in her 20's walks in. "I'm sorry I'm late!" the woman says.

"Agent Panos!" Agent Shaw says. "Agent Panos, I would like you to meet Xena and Gabrielle."

Xena and Gabrielle turn around to face Agent Panos. Shocked looks come across their faces, for the young agent is the spitting image of their daughter Eve. Xena drops the picture on the ground and says, "Eve!"
