Chapter 6: Ares Tells Some Truths, Xena Confronts Liz and Callisto's Pawn

Xena goes to strike Ares, but he quickly gets up, takes his sword out, and they start to battle. "I can't believe you haven't told her, Xena!" Ares says, taunting Xena.

"What, the fact that you're an arrogant asshole!" Xena says as their swords collide.

"I'm also sensing a narcissistic personality with a high level of egotistical traits also!" Liz says while Gabrielle tries not to chuckle as Xena and Area lock swords.

"You didn't tell her a couple of things about Eve, I see!" Ares says.

"What is he talking about?" Liz asks.

Xena and Ares's swords collide as Xena angrily says, "This is none of your business Ares!"

"Oh, but this is my business!" Ares says as Xena pushes him. He charges at her, but she flips him to the ground. "She needs to know Xena!"

"What is he talking about?" Liz asks, confused.

Ares gets up, looks at Liz, and says, "You don't know the two sides of Eve, don't you! Well, let me tell you about her!"

"Don't say a word, Ares!" Gabrielle yells in anger.

"When Xena and Gabrielle staged their deaths. along with Eve, I thought they were dead!" Ares yells. I took Xena and Gabrielle to an ice cave and put them in ice coffins to preserve them! I also thought Eve had perished with them! Little did I know that Augustus Cesar had Eve!" Ares proclaims. "A few years before they awoke, a young warrior under Augustus Caesar's reign by the name of Livia, also known as the bitch of Rome, caught my eye! She was a fierce warrior, and I convinced her to be my protegee! I trained her, molded her to be a warrior just as fierce as Xena was when she was the destroyer of nations!! I even convinced her that when the time was right, she and I would overthrow Augustus, and we would rule as king and queen! She was fierce! And we were fierce lovers also! Then Xena and Gabrielle awoke from their ice tomb, and I found out that Livia was Eve! Liz! You need to know the other truth!" Xena thrusts her sword into Ares's chest. He looks at her, smirks, and says, "Liz! You are the doppelganger of Livia, the bitch of Rome, also known as Eve, the messenger of Eli! Hell, you may even be their daughter reincarnated!"

Liz, in shock, looks at Xena and Gabrielle and asks, "Is this true?"

A rush of anger comes over Xena as she yanks her sword out of Ares's chest. Ares gets a smug look on his face as Xena looks at Liz and says, "Yes, Liz, you look exactly like our daughter Eve! We were going to tell you when the time was right."

Ares looks at Xena and says, "When were you going to tell her, Xena! Never!" He looks at Liz and says, "Liz! Join me! I can help you become a great leader!" Gabrielle rushes to him and punches him in the mouth. He smirks at Gabrielle and says, "I still see you have anger issues from your dad sacrificing himself to save you." In pure rage and anger, she takes her Sais and jabs them into his chest, then pulls out. Ares touches his wounds, which heals automatically. He looks at Liz and says, "Join me, Liz! Together we can set this world on fire!"

Liz looks at everyone confused, then rushes out of the room. Xena and Gabrielle angrily look at Ares, and Xena says, "Are you happy now!" Xena rushes after a confused Liz as Gabrielle tells Ares, "You're such a jackass!"

"She needed to know the truth, Gabrielle!" Ares says. "I will make her mine, Gabrielle!"

"Not if Xena and I stop you first!" Gabrielle says.

Meanwhile, in a patch of woods, Callisto has Shaw tied to the top of a large branch. "Well now, Xena and Gabrielle will have no choice but to come and rescue the woman who resembled their daughter! I'm actually looking forward to it!"

"Listen, I don't know what you are talking about, but I wouldn't even pass for Eve!" Shaw says in a nervous tone of voice. "I have curly red hair! And I look nothing like them! If anything, my partner would pass as Eve!"

"Don't make me a fool!" Callisto says. "You're Liz Panos, FBI agent."

"No, I'm FBI agent Megan Shaw," Shaw says. "I'm training agent Panos."

Callisto looks oddly at Shaw and says, "Well now, if that's the case, you can still fit into my plan to lure Xena, Gabrielle, and Liz to me." Callisto reaches into Shaw's jacket pocket and takes her cell phone, and demands, "Show me how to send them a message! Now!"

Xena catches up to Liz, who has run into the parking lot, "Liz! Wait!" Xena yells. Liz turns around and looks at Xena with a tear running down her face. "Please, let me explain!"

"Explain what!" Liz yells. "I look exactly like your daughter from ancient times! When were you going to tell me! Huh!"

"When we first met you, we were in shock," Xena explains. "They're standing right in front of us was a woman who looked like our daughter. At first, we weren't going to say anything, but as we opened ourselves up and got to know you, we decided that after the case, we'd fill you in."

Liz looks away, then back at Xena and asks, "Is it true what that Ares guy said? Did Eve turn out to be Livia, the Bitch of Rome?"

"Yeah," Xena says. "If Ares didn't put us in ice, we could've raised Eve how we wanted. But that wasn't the case."

"And the reincarnation line he gave!" Liz yells. "Am I Eve reincarnated?"

"I don't know," Xena says. "I will say you have her courage, but as far as being her, I really don't know. As far as Ares is concerned, he's still mad that after all these centuries, I won't join him, so he plays on emotions of people who I care about. Please don't listen to him, Liz. You are much smarter than him."

Liz looks over at Xena and says, "I have to go get Shaw; she's been gone too long. After this case, I want nothing to do with you or Gabrielle. I know who I am." Liz gets into her car and takes off.

Gabrielle rushes to Xena and asks, "Where did she go? What happened?"

Xena looks at Gabrielle seriously and says, "She went to get Shaw. She's angry and confused right now. Where's Ares?"

"Gone," Gabrielle says.

"Good! He's lucky I can't kill Gods anymore." Xena says in anger. "Because right now, I'd kill him on the spot!" Xena's phone goes off. She looks at it and sees it's a video message from Shaw. She answers it, and Gabrielle and her see a shot of Shaw, tied up in the tree with a noose around her neck.

They get a panicked look on their faces as Callisto suddenly appears. She looks into the camera and says, "Hello, Xena and Gabrielle! How's it going!"

"Callisto, let her go!" Xena says.

"And ruin the fun that's going to happen! I don't think so!" Callisto says. "I thought this was Liz Panos, the woman who looks like your daughter, but now that I study her more, she looks nothing like the two of you."

"Callisto, let our friend go! Now!" Gabrielle says seriously.

"I want you two to bring me, Liz. And then the three of us are going to fight it out for their lives!" Callisto says.

"You're crazy!" Gabrielle says.

"But I want revenge!" Callisto says. "You let me die in that quicksand, Xena! I begged you to save me, but you just looked on and let me sink! If Ares didn't come along and took me out of Tartus, I'd still be rotting down there."

"So that's how she got here!" Gabrielle says. "I knew this had Ares all over it!"

"Just bring me Liz, or your friend here hangs!" Callisto says.

"Xena! Gabrielle!" Shaw yells. "Help me get out of this! Please!" The screen suddenly goes black, and Xena and Gabrielle stare at each other seriously.
