Through the woods (a Daryl Dixon x oc story )

cheers to tomorrow

Run. It was all we did. It was all that I learned to do. We ran for what felt like hours and finally made it into the city. There were those monsters everywhere and we ran again, but I found an old department store that was relatively safe, for now, you could never stay in one place for too long. Learned that the hard way. I made a small makeshift bed and put Alex there, he would spend the night there. I went to bed for the 3rd time this week without eating. The last time I ate anything was 3 days ago, and even then it was only a bag of stale chips I'd found at an old house, and most went to Alex. Maybe I'd go looking tomorrow. Who knows I might not even make it to tomorrow.

I woke up to their growls. Well so much for a good morning. I walked around the store and changed my old worn out clothes to some new ones. We'd just stay here today, didn't feel Like leaving anyways, and couldn't take a risk on Alex's life.

The day passed but I think I heard some people. Actual people. I waited and then I heard a voice, "hey this way!" Then the door to the side of the store swung open and what looked like a group of people came spilling in. I pushed Alex behind me and stood In front of the group.
"Who the hell are you?!" I shouted to them. No one answered, but the static of a radio went off and a voice came through, "I'm back, got a guest plus four geeks in the alley!" Then two of the guys ran out of the store with bats in hand. I heard them kill a couple of those things then the two of them rushed back in along with two new people.

"You son of a bitch. We ought to kill you." The blonde girl said pushing one guy, a cop, up against a crate. They calmed the girl down but soon after gunshots went off.
"Oh, no is that dixon?" The blonde girl asked.
"Come on let's go!" The guy said.
I stayed in place not sure who these people were or if I could trust them. "You're coming too, come on girl." The Mexican guy said pulling me up the stairs with them. I grabbed Alex and we made it to the top and at the edge of the building stood a man with a sniper shooting down at the things.

"Hey dixon are you crazy?!"
"You ought to be more polite to a man with a gun." The 'Dixon' guy said.
Everything happened so fast and that guy was pushed on top of the black guy beating him. No one did anything. They just stood and watched. I couldn't just let them kill him, but then the cop picked up a pipe and tapped on the mans shoulder, as soon as he turned he swung the pipe and hit him. He fell and the cop hankuffed him to the pipes on the building.
We all stood in shock until the cop introduced himself.

*time skip*

"Nice to meet you, Rick." I said shaking his hand. I meet everyone. T-dog, Andrea, Jackie, Glenn, Morales and Merle Dixon.
"How are we going to get out of here?" I asked as we stood at the top of the building looking down at the hundreds of monsters that surrounded us.
"We can't, they know its us." Morales said.
"How?" Rick asked.
"Theyll see us, smell us, hear us."
"How could they smell us?"
"We don't smell dead."
And with that we had our plan, Rick and Glenn would smash a walker ( as I learned to call them ) and get a pick up for all of us to get away in, but the plan went south once the rain started falling. They ran and got the pick up, and a while after came to get us, and then we were off to meet the rest of the group, before we left I shouted to them about Merle.
"We gotta go forget about him"
"What the hell? No! Just give me the key!"
The group tossed me the key.
"Here pass is, you take your kid and get out of here!" T-dog yelled as he shoved me out the door and down the stairs.
Tiny time skip
When we arrived I sat with Alex in my lap and Rick in the drivers seat of the car as everyone met with their family, but we were called out and so there we stood ,side by side, until we heard a gasp and a little boy ran to Rick as he bent down and hugged him. Then a woman...it was His family. We all settled in and learned each others names then t-dog asked ," So, who's gonna tell Daryl?"
Turns out once I left T-dog tripped and dropped the key down a pipe. Bad luck.
"Whos daryl?" I asked.
"Merles little brother."
"Oh....." I said. "Well, No ones putting anyone to blame but um... T-dog? Do you want to tell him??"
"You kidding me!? That guy will beat me to a pulp"
"Ok well.. Then, I don't mind telling him"
"Really?"
"Yea as long as he doesn't beat ME to a pulp."I thought.
"Yea its fine...Were is he?" I asked.
"He went out hunting he'll be back in a little while." Carol said.
"If you'd Like I'll help you, I dropped the key and anyways I sho-" but t-dog was cut off by a scream. We all shot out of our seats and ran towards the woods. I'd left Alex in the RV so he could rest, so I had no worries. When we got to where the scream came from there was a deer being eaten by walkers,and it was carol's daughter, Sophia , who'd yelled, and then an arrow flew through its head.
