The day was spent planning and figuring out what the artifacts at their disposal did, they knew they couldn’t kill all the witches and leave New Orleans without any coven so they settled for figuring out who the leader was, cut off the head and everyone else would scatter.
Bonnie and Freya were checking out the artifacts and going through the spell books, practicing different spells and trying to combine a few in order to come up with new ones the witches wouldn’t expect.
Marcel had left to go and try talking to his men, see how many were willing to join him in the battle. Rebekah and Stefan had gone hunting vampires who had been helping the witches, they were only able to catch two and they took them to the compound for a little interrogation to figure out what they knew and why they were siding with the witches. The two vampires were on vervain so they had to drain them first and that was taking longer than Rebekah had the patience for but having Stefan there was making her less irritable.
Elijah had gone out to the bayou to check on Hayley and Hope leaving Caroline in the kitchen preparing food because she was starving and she knew Bonnie and Freya would be starving too.
She was washing her hands by the sink when Klaus entered, coming to stand behind her and placing his hands on her waist.
“Need any help sweetheart?” he asked as he rested his chin on her shoulder
“am almost done but you can keep me company,” she said with a small smile, having him that close to her just felt like home and she couldn’t help leaning back into him. Seeing everyone running around doing their part while she couldn’t do much, because she was now human and pregnant was frustrating so she was trying to be useful by feeding them.
Slowly his hand moved to her stomach, caressing the bump which wasn’t there yet, he could hear the heartbeat and it was soothing music to his ears. Caroline put her hand on top of his, slowly rubbing his knuckles.
“It still feels so surreal,” she said in a whisper but of course he heard it.
”if someone had told me one year earlier that the feisty Caroline Forbes would be carrying my child I would have laughed in their face and probably ripped their heart out for the mockery,” he said with a grin and she giggled, turning around to face him as her arms went round his neck.
“I know you love being king of New Orleans and I don’t want to force you to give that up but can you try not to make more enemies please?” she asked of him “perhaps try mending bridges?... I don’t want our daughter looking over her shoulder at all times.”
“son…”
“what?”
“it’s a boy,” he told her with confidence
“how would you know that? Its too early to tell.”
“I just know,” he gave her a smug smile as his hands were slowly rubbing on her waist and he didn’t seem to realize that it was kinda turning her on.
“Whatever,” she rolled her eyes “just promise me you’ll be less villainy and murdery,” she said making him chuckle, this earned a sneer from her and he quickly stopped.
“I promise I will not make any enemies, I would never do anything which would endanger the lives of my kids if I can help it,” he said to her “and am sure you’ll stop me before I even try,” he added with a smirk and she smacked his chest making him chuckle again.
“Shut up it’s not funny,” she scolded trying to put up a serious face but couldn’t help the giggle which escaped her mouth. For a few seconds which felt like hours they just stood there staring into each other’s eyes until she heard a ding reminding her that she was actually cooking. Klaus moved faster than her and brought the baking pan out of the oven.
“this smells wonderful love,” he complimented
“thank you, people need a full stomach for all that scheming and planning,” she tried to make light of the situation.
“unfortunately only Bonnie and Freya are here,” he reminded her
“well they’re the only humans so its fine,” she shrugged it off even though she wished they could all sit and eat family style “plus Elijah needs this moment with Hayley just as much as we do,” she said as she picked at some food with a fork and fed it to him.
“Elijah and Hayley?” he asked with a raised eyebrow making her realize that she may have said too much.
“yeah, as friends..” she tried to peddle back and he laughed
“am not blind Caroline, I just didn’t know that you knew…” he disclosed as he helped her set the table.
“she told me about it when I went to babysit Hope but made me promise to keep it a secret,” she said
“am just glad you two seem to be getting along,” he said, he needed Hope to be comfortable with Caroline and having her and Hayley hate each other would have made things very intense.
“yeah well, you went after her and you have good taste in women,” she smiled to herself “that is when you’re not pursuing crazy redheads so yeah, Hayley isn’t bad.”
“I didn’t go after her,” he clarified as he pulled her closer and caressed her cheek, leaning in to capture her lips in a soft kiss “it was a drunken one night stand born of frustration of being rejected by a certain blonde,” he said as his thumb caressed her lower lip, Caroline could feel her breathe hitch and heat gather between her legs.
Caroline stood on her toes and leaned in to whisper in his ear
“How about she makes it up to you?” she licked then nibbled on his earlobe bringing a low groan out of him as he felt his cock twitch. Without hesitation, he lifted and flashed her up to the bedroom, lucky for them Freya and Bonnie did not have supernatural hearing.

Davina and Kol arrived in New Orleans the following day and by the time they got there, Rebekah and Stefan had managed to remove all the vervain from the two vampires before Rebekah compelled them to tell nothing but the truth. They were asked what the witches had offered them but it was nothing.
“we’re just following Tristan’s orders,”  one of them confessed “he hates the original family and would want nothing more than seeing them daggered and buried at the bottom of the ocean for eternity.”
After getting all the answers, Rebekah wanted to kill them but Stefan suggested she compels them to go back and spy for them.
.
Before Davina even went to the house at the plantation, she had gone to the cemetery just to get a feel of the situation and talk to some witches, some of them were just following orders because they didn’t want to be killed, their powers harvested. She couldn’t figure out exactly what the head witch was planning to do in order to get to Hope past the barrier but she had an idea of how she could spy on them. With the plan forming in her mind she went to the house where the Mikealsons were gathered.
“so, what do you have so far?” she asked the two witches in her presence, all she wanted was to get this over with and leave the city.
“we found a dark objet we could use to pull the magic out of one witch , they’ll be easier to deal with but in order to perform the spell we need to be close and the powers will only stay in the object for twelve hours, if the powers aren’t put in someone else they’ll be sucked back into the original owner,” Freya explained to the young witch.
“am guessing we’re targeting the leader since there’s only one object?”
“yes, now all we have to do is figure out who is leading the flock and get close enough to pull the magic out,” said Klaus “it should be simple enough.”
“not for you, if they stay in the cemetery you originals wont be able to enter, its spelled.. and I doubt the five of us can overtake a coven of witches plus their vampire backups.”
“four of you, Caroline isn’t going…” Klaus objected.
“wait a minute,” Caroline stood up “I may be human but I can still fight and am a damn good distraction, they wont expect to see me, they don’t even know me… I bet I can get close enough to plant the relic. As long as we figure out who the leader is,” she aired out her plan
“no, just no!” Klaus refused sternly
“oh come on Nik, that’s a good plan and you know it,” said Kol
“I will not put her in harm’s way, Caroline stays here,” he barked at his brother
“so I get to bring Davina to help YOU but you don’t want your girlfriend to be involved?” Kol protested
“she’s not a witch!” he yelled “she can’t defend herself against them and if they figure out she’s carrying my child they will kill her!” his veins started popping out as beads of sweat dropped from his forehead.
“we can put a protection spell on her,” Freya suggested
“no!” Klaus still refused “Caroline doesn’t leave this house,” he declared and walked upstairs but Caroline remained and looked at Freya
“do it, do the spell… I’ll take the relic near the witch,” she told her and Freya did not hesitate to touch her hands and start chanting away. She knew Klaus would lose it but eventually after the plan works he would be grateful for it.
