Okay, warning it is long. Like very long. The poem itself is 1034 words long so it is okay if you guys leave halfway through.I have used flowers as symbolism. So I will just drop the list here:
Foxglove: Insecurity
Carnations:love,fascination
Amaranth:immortal love
Clover: promise
Chrysanthemum: "I love you"
Moonflower: Dreaming of love
Doors opened, we reach just in time
Walking down the hall your hand in mine
Flowers across the room spread like light
Pools of colours dresses dark and bright
The painting of foxgloves hung low
behind the priest's grey shadow
I look at you and you don't seem to mind
The war your heart seems to fight
I know we started just to give it a try
On and off it has been four years maybe five
And yet I don't remember a single argument or any serious fight
Maybe that is the problem we are never serious, right?
You drop my hand and head to meet my friends
Smiles and greetings all over again
I leave to meet the part of family we haven't met in a while
And probably won't for another long period of time
They ask me about us , about what we call a fling
I smile, avoiding the seemingly never ending questioning
The giggle looking towards you , teasing me endlessly
You turn my way, lock eyes trying to convey what you feel clearly
Why play this relationship like tides in the oceans
Lost in my thoughts didn't notice making your way through the commotion
All this while we haven't spoken alone
Now you pull me not bothering with the people you condone
You pull me in the corners your lips feathering kisses on my forehead, gentle and soft
I won't lie I wasn't expecting something of this sort
You lean in, whispering in my ear
"I know you felt cornered, it was clear."
Your words surprise me, you say we don't know each other
Yet you understand me before I speak any further
We walk once again through the doors
You pulling me closer then before
You smile at people walking around
Words so easily drowned in sound
Separated again by colours and chatter, a little too soon
I don't really mind as long as you in the same room
The voices hush down in waves
As the couple of the evening takes the stage
They move across the floor like a brush on an empty canvas
Painting a story like i painted us
The only difference is that you would play a siren's melody
While I painted a memory you and me
Remembering you my eyes float across the room and there you are standing by yourself
I tune out the world and the music I want to be with you is all I can tell
As I come back from my haze
Trying to meet your gaze
The music changes as the singer sings about love
And through the lyrics all I can hear is us
Life waltzed with fate as the rhythm of love dictated my feet towards you
Your eyes hinting a feeling I could only hoped was true
The champagne intoxicates me but u make me sober
You cleared the fog and smoke that had taken over
Your arms motionless beside velvet blazer
I like the way your gaze would never waver
People looking at the bride and groom
Smiling, standing across the room
I turn to you and I realise
This is something I can see us like
Both of us at the alter, standing face to face
Music and word slows down as our hearts race
I will be honest to you, until today
I have never imagined us this way
We have been on this page for too long, we have every word memorised
We replayed this song too many time, to be able to write every line
So darling what do you think
Is it really me talking or is it just the drink
This day this minute seems like an epiphany
Denying it feel so melancholy
Holding on to that thought I reach out to you
You take my hand without a thinking it through
You step in close
Taking me in your hold
Swaying with the music in the background
Your voice making me drown
I fall in love with the way you speak
Your deep brown eyes making me weak
Our feet move in sync just as clouds with air
Eyes on us , but I guess I don't care
I can feel my heart beat erratically
Like a bird flapping to be free
Even if this is just a casual
What I feel is not unusual
The words that rolled of your tongue after
Are still capable of making heart falter
You said, "I think I want to leap;
Either I end up as icarus or like a cat on it's feet."
I am far from the sun,
like you say I am your carnation
So jump I will be your ground to land
Take the leap I will lend you a hand
"Leap, then I am all ready to catch you before you hurt."
Your heartbeat was all I heard.
I have kissed you a million times
But none felt like that December night
that wedding changed my mind
It feels as good as I have imagined yours and mine
You looked at me with as much love that a groom would look at his bride
Through out the night it felt like you never left my side
You, held, smiled, kissed and promised me wordlessly
A promise you said you would die to keep
We took a risk on something so fragile
And yet kept it alive
The Amaranth we planted growing just as us two
Fast, well and true
I love you from the day of my realisation
To the day of my destruction
Pictures,paintings,songs,books,quotes,poems,tucked in my wardrobe neatly
The ones we created when we went from strangers to you and me
With those we made a lane so familiar to walk down
The warmth we made to cover us all around
Now waking up to your face
And fall asleep in your embrace
It tells me that my blissful denial before
Is nothing compared to this for sure
Your promises, your words, your songs,
your mysteries I wanted to solve
Lay before me deciphered so well
Clover, chrysanthemum, and moonflower they spelled
Assured, we both can dream of a future we like
I love you till the end of the line.
