Chapter 1:
My mom is driving my sister and I to school right now. I didn't think my senior year in high school would come by so quickly.
My summer consisted of late nights with my best friend Carly. We would continuesly watch all the seasons of Friends along with a bowl of popcorn and pizza to eat. The last week of summer Carly went to Aruba with her little brother and her parents.
Every day of the summer I would wake up at around 11:30 in the morning, and when I got out bed to go eat something my wonderful and terrible twin sister, Skyler, would be on the phone with her boyfriend, Ryan, who she manages to keep in touch with. He's in New York and we're all the way across the country in California. They've been together for a little over three years, but he moved to New York for college after high school so they haven't seen each other for a year. Skyler is miss popular at West Town High School, she's got blonde taylor swift curls and the perfect curved body. I may have curves but I have absolutely no clue where she got that blonde hair from. I'm not in her popular possy but luckily I'm not the kid at the back of the class who no one notices, and who everyone bully's. Thank goodness. My sister doesn't let that. She may be a total hormonal bitch sometimes, but since she is the leader of the popular possy, she kind of protects me from them... I mean not that I can't protect myself, she just helps me out.
Summer came to an end and now I'm outside of West Town High School. Skyler goes her seperate way. I look around and I see Carly getting out of her car. She sees me and motions to me to come to her. She's wearing a beanie which is weird because she usually showcases her beautiful, long, blonde hair.
"Hey Carly what's up. How was your trip? Did you see any hot and shirtless boys at the beach?"
Carly smirked, "Yes Aubrey, I actually did but every time I tried to talk to one of them, Michael would embarrass me like hell in front if them." Michael is Carly's little brother, and yes he can be a bit annoying sometimes... well kind of all the time.
"Why are you wearing a beanie?" I asked "Your hair is too gorgeous for that thing." She took a big sigh and took the beanie off, her hair looked normal and I couldn't tell what she was trying to show me. Then, that's when she took her hair out of the bun it was in and her hair was at least ten inches shorter than it was.
"What the hell did you do to your hair? Are you freaking crazy?" I yelled "Why the hell would you cut it? It was beautiful long."
I couldn't believe it. Why would she cut her hair. She isn't like me who wears a braid in my hair every day because these long brown locks are unmanageable.
She rolled her eyes "I didn't cut my hair Aubrey, my-"
I interrupted her instantly, "What do you mean you didn't cut your hair. What? Did a magical barber come from hair heaven come and snip ten inches off of your hair?"
She started laughing and then explained to me what had happened. "It's actually eleven inches ... unfortunately. I fell asleep on the couch and Michael cut my hair. I had to go to the salon and get it evened out so now it looks like this. Ugghhh, that little dweeb fart."
I chuckled "Okay then, let's get inside we don't want to be late on the first day of school."
"Okay, let's go." Carly fixed her hair and put the beanie back on, and we walked inside the school.
We checked our schedule and Carly and I didn't have the first class of the day together.
"Looks like we have to go our seperate ways." I said
"Yup, see you later Aubrey bear."
"Bye Carly, see you later." Wait, did she just call me Aubrey bear? She used to do that all the time, but she stopped. It's not that I don't like it, but it was so out of the blue. Hmm...interesting.
I was walking to my locker and there he was, Jesse Anderson. My ultimate crush since ninth grade. He is one hell of a hunk. He's got dark spiked up short hair and that strong jaw line just kills me. His distraction on me causes me to bump into someone. I mumble a sorry and walk away. I get to my locker and keep glancing at him while I'm emptying the things in my bag to the locker. He is getting closer and closer to me. Is he going tell me something? He comes next to me and then I realize he is opening the locker right next to me. Oh no, this can't be happening. His locker is right next to mine. He is going to be my locker buddy for the year. How am I supposed to act normal with the boy of my dreams right next to me.
"Hey."
What? Who said that? Oh, it was him. Oh my goodness. What do I do? Aubrey, do not say something stupid. I repeat, do NOT say something stupid.
"Hi." Okay that was easy. I'm doing good here, I'm okay. Wow, I just said hi to him. This is great.
"What's your first class?" He asked
I looked at the schedule in my hand, "ummm... Science."
"Oh me too," he said.
Well then, if I have that class with him lets hope I can pay attention in it.
"Cool." I hope that sounded normal, because inside of me right now I am screeching like a little kid on Christmas morning, or even better, like a teenage girl meeting one direction.
We finished putting our things in our locker and we walked with each to the class. Let me tell you, it was very akward. I didn't say anything and neither did he. The walk to the classroom felt like forever even though the class was just down the hall.
We get in the class and luckily I'm not sitting next to him. I'm in the middle of the class and he is in the front corner with his friends. He's laughing and that beautiful smile is making me dreamy. Snap out of it Aubrey. You need to relax. You look like a creepy stalker looking at him like that.
The teachers name was Mr. Williams. He's a nice guy. Luckily Jesse wasn't much of a distraction and I paid attention in the class. The day went by and I had another class with him. It wasn't that bad considering that the class was basically a joke. Everyone was talking and the teacher, Mr. Lopez, wasn't very happy with all the chit chat. Carly was also in the class with me, so I told her about the locker and how I was in the same class with him.
Carly pushed my shoulder lightly, "oooohhh, looks like someone is going to have a good year."
"Ya, that's if I can talk normally to him."
The bell rang and Carly took Skyler and I home. My parents weren't home, so they must have gone out or something. I watched some tv, had dinner, then watched some more tv. After showering and brushing my teeth I got into my pj's and went to my bed thinking about what the next trip to my locker would be like. My thoughts were interrupted when someone knocked on my door. Skyler walked in.
"Hey Sky what's up."
"Nothing much, I was just talking with Ryan." She sighed, "How was your first day back at school?"
"Good, what about you? How's the popular life going?" I asked. I could tell she got a bit annoyed at the question.
"Listen sis, I'm not doing this to bother you. I'm not popular on purpose. I know I sound like a bitch, but believe me. I love you, and I would never do that on purpose to you."
"Thanks Sky, I love you too."
"Okay, enough with the serious talk," she smiled. "I saw you and Jesse walking together, I think he likes you Aubrey bear."
"Okay first, what's with everyone calling me Aubrey bear? No one has called me that for like six months, and second, do you really think so?"
"Yes, I really do think so sista"
I smiled. I don't know if she was telling me the truth or if she was just saying it to make me feel better. I find it very hard to believe, so I think I'm not going to believe it for now. Crazy, right?
There was silence for like a minute and then her phone started ringing.
"It's Ryan calling again, good night Aubrey."
"Good night Skyler, love you."
She left the room and answered the phone to talk with Ryan. There so cute together. I'm really happy for her.
I tucked myself in bed and checked and replied to my emails. I set my alarm and then drifted off to sleep with Jesse on my mind, hoping that tomorrow would be a good day.
