Chapter 1.
Narrator’s P.O.V.
Horrible. Just horrible. That was the one word that Aisha could think of when she woke up. It was 8:09 in the morning and again, she had woken up late for school. She couldn’t be bothered rushing to catch the bus so she just slowly got ready. She spread peanut butter on a slightly burnt piece of toast. She grabbed her joggers that where originally white, but now where mostly brown from the dirt they picked up when she went on afternoon jogs. She tied the frayed laces as quick as she could and grabbed her backpack and stepped out the door.
She sighed as she looked up to see the gloomy grey sky that she saw every time she stood out the door. She started walking up the street, making sure she didn’t step on any cracks like she usually did. She walked past the little grocery store at the end of her street, as well as a couple of cafés and office buildings. She was about halfway to school when her phone wrung. It was her friend, Alice. Alice was a ditsy bubbly girl who didn’t know how to shut her mouth. “HEY!!” she screamed into Aisha’s ear and she flinched. “Where are you?! You’re late, you’re very very late!” “Sorry, Alice. I slept in” she sighed. “Well you better hurry up! We have a maths test about to start!” Oh crap! Aisha thought I completely forgot! I didn’t even study! “You forgot to study again, didn’t you, Aisha?” “Yeah” she sighed “you’ll be fine, as long as you get here soon” she said in her usual high pitch voice then hung up.
Aisha’s P.O.V.
OMG! I am such an idiot! I thought to myself. Mom will kill me if I fail again! I was about a street away from my school and I started to speed up. As I walked through the gates, the teacher on duty stopped me. “Miss Rose, didn’t I tell you that you will get detention if you were late again?” it was Mr Whitt, my chemistry teacher. “How many times have I told you not to call me by my last name?” I mumbled to myself. He pulled out a yellow piece of paper from his jacket and gave it to me. “You have detention from 3:30 to 6:00 this Thursday”. Damn, my Mom’s gonna kill me I thought. I stuffed the yellow ticket into my pocket and ran into the school. At my locker stood my two best friends, Alice, who as you know, is the talkative ditsy one, and Charlie who is the Pretty, Smart and quite frankly a “perfect human” in many people’s eyes which I cannot disagree with. She has dark blonde, wavy hair and glowing skin. She also always wore a necklace with a golden star pendant. Alice was really pretty too with midlength, light brown hair and glowing hazel eyes. She had a huge grin spread across her face while Charlie just smiled sweetly. “You finally made it!” shouted Alice. “I thought you had DIED!!” she screamed “but Ali” I started “you only talked to me on the phone 10 minutes ago” I said rolling my eyes while she giggled.
“We better get going” said Charlie “or we will all miss the test if we stand here much longer”. We walked up the stairs towards our classroom. When we got there, the class’s door was closed and we could see through the window that the class had started. Alice grabbed the door handle swung the door open. We entered the classroom and everyone stared at us. “Hmm…. You three, late again?” she said in a jokey tone. Miss Ray, our maths and History teacher. She is seriously the BEST teacher ever! She jokes around, doesn’t care about homework and lets us finish early. Most students don’t like her because of her letting us slake off, but me, I hate school so letting me slack off, she’s at the top of my favourite teacher list!
“We’re sorry” said Charlie “it won’t happen again” we said together. Miss Ray let out a little giggle then gestured to three seats at the front of the class room. “I hope your all ready for the math test, everybody” she exclaimed. I heard everyone in the class moan, except for one certain girl, Grace Bubble. Grace used to go to a school in England for the smartest children on the planet. But then her family became broke and she had to transfer back to a normal school in Australia. Man, she really annoyed me. She always makes fun of my stupidity and calls Charlie and Alice dumb blondes. “I’m gonna beat all you idiots!” she shouted. I rolled my eyes.
