Oh... I have a headache the size of Mars! Must've whacked my head pretty good. Doesn't matter if I have a concussion. I'm in HUGE trouble.
Slowly opening my eyes, flinching from the painful glare of the light hanging overhead, I groaned when I realized I was in the healing room.
Great.
"Nadia?" The familiar voice of my friend questioned. I turned my head and smiled when I saw her.
"How much trouble?" I asked with a grin and she shook her head with a grimace.
"Loads." She said softly and I shrugged, sitting up.
"Better than extremely, I guess." I chuckled, gesturing for her to hand me the cup of water.
She handed me the glass and I downed the cool liquid, sighing as it rehydrated my dry throat.
"Wanna place bets?" I grinned, leaning over and setting the glass on the bedside table. "I'm betting... two hours of yard work for three weeks."
I half expected her to laugh, but wasn't supervised when she didn't.
"Nadia," She started, pushing up her glasses. "You know I love you, but... it's time for some tough love. Okay?"
Fair enough.
I nodded and sat up, turning to face her more. "Hit me." I said casually, trying to hide my nerves.
She gave me a confused look and shook her head. "Okay, you're my best friend and... I know how you appreciate people being straight forward."
"Much like you're not doing right now." I pointed out and she nodded.
"Yeah." She chuckled nervously, fiddling with her sleeve. "I'm... I'm not sure how to do this."
I nodded and took her hands in mine. "Allow me." I grinned and did my best Elizabeth expression. "Nadia, what you did was irresponsible, stupid, and irrational. Now matter how cool you looked, sliding down that pole, it was stupid and I hope you learned your lesson." I switched back to me. "Yes, Eliza." I grinned, putting my hand dramatically over my heart. "I have."
She shook her head, hiding a smirk, and rolled her eyes. "I wish I was as cool as you." She mumbled, making my heart ache.
"You mean you wanna be a huge pain in the ass?" I asked and her face fell.
"Good point." She mumbled and snapped out of it. "I mean. I wanna be like you. You're so cool and chill and you don't care what people think of you. Not like me. I'm the only guardian who wears glasses."
"Not true." I said, leaning in to share a secret. "When Azazel attended school here, he wore glasses for TWO years."
She laughed and shook her head. "No way!" She laughed. "Not possible!"
"It's true." I snickered. "I snuck into his office and found his year book. He looked like a little guppy fish!"
"A what fish?" She asked and I had to correct myself.
"It's a cute little fish from the mortal world." I explained. "During free period, I went down to something called an aquarium, a place where there are ALL sorts of aquatic animals, and they were SO cute!"
She gave me a disapproving look. "You went down into the mortal world again?!" She hissed. "Nadia, you can't go-"
"I know, I know, I know." I sighed, rolling my eyes. "I'll get into major trouble and stuff. Been there, done that."
She shook her head. "See?" She said quietly. "So cool."
I gave her a sympathetic look and squeezed her hand. "Lizzy," I said and pointed to my jet black hair. "I'm the only dark haired guardian ever recorded in history. I don't think that's cool."
