Walking up to the school building it feels different
There's no kids playing outside and no teachers in classrooms
I kept walking down the mainhall to the assembly room. Everyone is nicely standing and listening to the faction talkers.
I find a seat next to my friends Mike and Ange and quietly put my stuff on the chair and stand to listen to what the faction talkers have to say...
"Now, as you know most of you are turning 17 this year and have become the legal age to choose a faction" says Marcelo from dauntless
"Choosing a faction can be hard, but choosing one will be the most important decision of your life, it will be a new start for all of you regardless of the faction you choose" says glen from abnegation
"Today, we're here to inform you that the rules have changed. Starting from today, you will all have to choose a faction at the end of the first term and spend the last three terms at your chosen faction." Says the principle
Everyone starts screaming in anger. People are kicking chairs and storming out of the room. I look at Mike and Ange, Mikes losing it and Ange is crying..
The principle continues "Now this might seem a bit sudden, but as you all know have 6 days till the end of the term so these decisions should be made fast and wisely as they will be the choice of your future. You should also know that with whatever choice you make, you must say good bye to your families and your homes for it will be the last time you will see them"
The more she talks I can see water balling up in my eyes and slowly one by one falling down my face. I grab my bag and run out of the room. I didn't know what to do, Keep walking, go back or go home. I seriously have no idea what I'm doing. After ten minutes of walking I find a park bench and sit down to think.
I mean I knew that this was happening, That we would have to choose a new home. But I didn't know that it would be happening in six days. Suddenly I can hear someone calling out my name
"Kain,where are you?"
It's just Ange..
"Ange I'm over here"I reply
She gives me a really sorry look as if to say 'are you okay?' Or 'I know how you feel'
"I'm just upset, I knew we had to make this choice,I just didn't know that it would be this soon"
"You think I don't how you feel? I can't say bye to my mum just yet, she's to sick to look after her self and she needs me there to support the rest of the family!" she says in sadness and frustration
"I'm sorry, I know your situation is worse than mine. But they can't do this, just go and spring this kinda news on us okay! It's not fair"
"Look I'm sorry but I gotta go home it's almost tea time. But I can walk you home if you want?" I offer
"No it's okay Kain, I have to go get mike he's probably bashing down the principles door" she says and walks away slowly...
I just keep walking home. It's only a 10 minute walk from here...
I open the front door to find mum sitting at the kitchen table crying with a letter in her hand. I don't say anything and just keep walking up to my room. Then katelyn comes in, and I knew that something serious had happened.
"Kain come here please"
"Coming mum" I reply
I walk down the stairs slowly and mums holding the letter to give it to me. I grab it and start reading ...
'Dear Ms ledger
Today, your son was informed that he would be choosing a new faction at the end of the first term. He was also informed that he has 6 days until this term finishes. However, Kains instructions are different. Due to his skills and teachings we have gone forth with the decision of putting him in the faction dauntless. This decision was made by the instructors of dauntless and made official by the school.
We appreciate your cooperation.

Dropping to my knees in pain and heartache I look at mum with tears pouring down her face. I can't do anything to change what I had just read.
