Ashton POV
After they had punched the damned needle into my arm I hadn't been able to move. The ladies in white had to carry me back to my room, which was very degrading for me.
Lottie had met me at my cell, her bright blue eyes wide with worry once she saw me limply being dragged back. Caleb has appeared after her, his jaw set in a defensive state and his dark eyes shaded by his dark hair.
Right now, Lottie was pacing the room with a scowl, she had thought it was inhumane for them to just drag me where they pleased.
"That's so horrible! What have you ever done to them?" She continued with her rant as she twirled her dark hair through her fingers angrily.
"I don't know, Lottie." I groaned out in frustration. "All I know is that it's done and over with already."
She shook her head in anger, "They shouldn't treat you like that. Am I right Caleb? Tell me I'm right." Her sharp eyes cut to Caleb with a glare.
He nodded, "You're right. They deserve to be dragged back to their own cells and locked up."
I rolled my eyes, "Guys, I don't even care. You shouldn't either."
Lottie stopped mid-pace and turned towards me with her arms crossed, "Yes, because we should just let them put drugs into you and drag you on the dirty floor." Her nose was wrinkled in disgust.
I layed back into my bed with a long sigh, "It didn't even hurt Lottie. All it did was hurt my pride just a little bit. Nothing major."
She leaned over me, "It may have not hurt, but what if that needle they pushed into you made us leave again? Did you ever think of that?"
No, I hadn't thought of that. I don't know what they put into the needle the first time I stayed here, but it had made Lottie and Caleb go away. They didn't talk, or even see me for three months straight. They had let me out of the asylum with a warning and some spare clothes.
During those long months, I had gotten a apartment of my own and a doctor to check up on me every week. They'd ask me the same question, "Have they come back to see you?", in which I would reply with a somber "No."
But I did see them. In the middle of a crowded space I would see Lottie's tall figure, or Calebs dark hair through the mass of people. I would always call out their names and tear through the crowds, but they always disappeared.
But one morning, I opened the door and Lottie rushed inside with Caleb at her side. She immediately started chattering as if nothing had happened, as if I hadn't spent the last three months trying to find them.
They claimed that they didn't remember leaving, but believed me when I broke down into tears of relief and sadness.
When I eagerly told the doctor thay they had come back, he had immediately called someone and brought me back to the asylum. Where I have been rotting since then.
Shaking my head of those thoughts I looked back up to Caleb and Lottie. "No, I didn't. But you guys need to calm down. I won't let them get to you." Giving them a small half smile I leaned back into the scratchy mattress. "Now let me sleep. I'm tired."
Lottie rolled her eyes, "Fine. Get some sleep."
"Will you sing to me?" I gave her my best puppy dog eyes.
She sighed, "Sure Ash." She kneeled next to the bed and tucked a few curls behind my ear with light fingers.
She quietly cleared her throat before starting to sing, "Goodnight, my angel.
Time to close your eyes
and save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far awayGoodnight my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many thinks I want to say..."Lottie's voice began lulling me to sleep slowly, as her voice got quieter my eyelids dropped close.
I felt her small hand on my forehead as she brushed my hair away, "I won't let them take you either darling." She whispered quietly, almost not enough for me to hear.
With those final words in my ear, I fell into a deep sleep.
////////////
Good god that was a short chapter. I literally feel like hitting myself with a brick. By the way, the name of that song was "Goodnight my angel" by Billy Joel.
So thank you so much for reading and I swear this story gets much better.
