It took about 20 minutes to walk home, Candy, Daryl and I being the last ones to seperate. It was fun for the most part, sneaking out of school I mean, what I didn't enjoy was getting chased by Daryl, huge spider in hand. It'd end up with him dropping the spider on the road, having enough time for me to get as far away as possible.

Now, I was standing in front of two large boxes, one with my heavier clothes, like for winter months, another with my summer clothes. Starting to dig through my summer clothes I throw everything on the ground, seperating it hastily and grabbing a simple black piece. I have one other choice but I don't think it'd be appropriate for a 16 year old woman to wear a very small and tight, 'Hello Kitty' one piece. Cute and bright, but I'll stick to something more comfortable. Next, I grab a pair of shorts and a loose blouse that'll keep me covered up when needed.

We had decided that since Daryl somewhat has a license he'd pick us up from our places, stopping by for me at 2:20ish.

Throwing on flip flops I look up at the clock, it reading 2:15. Exactly 5 minutes before Daryl shows up at my house, also bringing the others.

I run in to the kitchen, grabbing a pencil and paper quickly writing,

'Going to the pool with a couple of friends, I have a ride to and from, don't worry! XoXo

-Devyn W. Pool is on, Old Stage and Maryone <3
I'll be back before 9:00.'

I grab the note and walk towards the door, making sure to get my house keys and wallet, stuffing them in my pocket. Locking the door behind me I stuff the note in the crack near the handle, somewhere she'd notice right away.

I turn back around, just in time to see Daryl stop a classic old baby blue truck. It looks pretty beaten up but that makes it more appealing to the eye,..well my eye anyway. As I walk closer I start uncontrollably laughing, head thrown back with a hand on my chest as I see the three stooges in the bed of the truck, gripping the sides for dear life.

Climbing in I turn towards Daryl, "Your choice or their's?" I ask, looking back into the trunk and waving at em', smiling widely. "Mine, they're all annoyin' as hell" he answers putting the car in drive, smirking as he looks into the rearview mirror. There being only 3 seats in the car I can only imagine how he explained I'd need the seats. But I'd kill to see the position that put him in.

We've been driving for about a good 30 minutes, it being on the dot 3 o'clock. It was interesting being near Daryl for that long, the conversations were short, him grunting at all the questions I had asked. Not knowing how to take them after a while I gave up. Sat there in silence, hearing only the static of the radio, sometimes a song breaks through for a good minute.

I start hearing faint cheering from behind my head. Looking back and seeing the three of my friends jumping up and down, hands raised as Daryl scoffs and rolls his eyes playfully, putting the car in park and turning it off.

We get off the car and grab towels and the sunscreen Candy had told us not to worry about bringing, looks like she lives up to the name 'Mom of the group'. I never understood that phrase until now, where I'm living it, always thought that'd be me in her position. Guess not, and hey I'm not mad about it, less responsibilities.

We each grabbed a towel, throwing them over our shoulders and starting the short walk to the gates. Sneezing every once in a while. That damn sun, blinding me and shit. Now I really know the world has something against me.

As I'm walking I hear whispering and laughing coming from behind, knowing their all playing tricks on me I turn around, eyebrow raised, hands on hip 'mom' style. "Something I should know?" I ask, looking over everyone, Candy, teeth biting her lower lip, stopping her from laughing. Mack, a hand over his mouth to stifle his chuckles. Daryl, a smile smile creeping up his face, eyes brightening as I look over at him. Then the most noticeable, Jacki, Polaroid camera in hand, grabbing his chest as he lets out belts of joyous screams. "I took a picture of you, mid sneeze, looks like you got shot and woke up just to find out you got shot!" He says, showing everyone the picture. Obviously I am very confused in this situation, something about dying but not?.. I'm not from Georgia, I really need to learn some of this language if I'm going to survive in this world.
