“Is she asleep?” Dark heard his half-brother's voice from the back seat. He met his eyes on the rearview mirror but shifted his eyes on the road as he drives. Right after Lisa finished treating his wounds and right after this beta told him that his territory is in danger, he linked and alerted his right hand Yeonjun to get his Protectors and Military factions to be ready for any attack until he returns. He has to make sure there are no more lives that will be lost in his kingdom. He cannot lose more innocent werewolves just because he is careless.

“Yeah.” Dark briefly answered and remained silent. As much as he hated to be in the same space with that beta, he has to endure it for the sake of Lisa. He turned to look at the gorgeous werewolf silently sleeping on the passenger’s seat. He reached for her cheek and softly caressed it.

He hated the fact that Lisa knew him before he did. He didn’t miss to notice those marks on Mingyu’s face for it looks so much like Lisa’s whenever her nature as a werewolf surges in. He often see it now because she finally embraced her identity as a creature of their Goddess Luna. Maybe what Mingu said is right—maybe they are mated. Betas are not gifted for a destined mate but that doesn’t mean they cannot build an imprint to another werewolf. And werewolves are investing not only their heart but also their soul to someone they chose to love. That commitment lasts for a lifetime.

And like for him—he is choosing someone over destiny. He is trying to hold onto two different werewolves at this point. He can’t even tell if he can save them both. The Healer who happened to be his destined mate is on the brink of death and the Soldier he had chosen over everything is now also in danger. It’s hard to choose who to save first.

Or is it?

“Aren’t you going to ask me anything? I am pretty sure you got a lot of questions too.” Mingyu said, releasing a soft groan as he shifts on his seat. “Besides, I am the smarter one.”

Dark smugged and rolled his eyes. “Yeah right. Not until I cut your head off.”

Mingyu released a soft giggle. “You know what, Dark. Your empty threats doesn’t make me scared. It never does. Aish, you and your arrogant ass never changed.”

Dark glared at him again on the rearview mirror. “Just because it’s written in the Alpha Code that a golden blooded werewolf cannot be executed by another golden-blooded one, I am not breaking your bones. You’re lucky I only broke 2 of your ribs. I could’ve pulled out your intestines to decorate it around your neck, beta.” He answered, making Mingyu rolled his eyes.

“Whatever. You’re all talk. Ask me something useful. Come on, don’t be shy. I know you’re so curious why I know her.” He answered and shrugged. “Aren’t you curious why we’re imprinted?”
