Timeline: 4 hours before the first attack Chapter Source: Chapter 28, Battleground
Lisa slowly get herself up from the bathtub, finishing her bath. She reached for the clean towel prepared by Nurturer Somi to dry herself. The whole bathroom smells like mild lavender and she looked at the city lights from the huge window.
In four hours, this city will be in ruins.
But this time, she isn’t on that side who will kill the werewolves that she thought was the monster of their kind. She is here to save them. She is on the side of the golden king who captured her heart—who apparently is hurting because of her too. Maybe, if he won this war, he will forgive her. Maybe, he will believe her that she loves him like he does. Besides, she deserved this.
He has been treating her coldly, keeping himself busy for the plans and strategies he came up with his military faction. The distance and silent treatment is killing her.
And she saw him escorted his mate on that plane that will evacuate werewolves to their safety. She saw how he kissed her and heard how he promised he’ll be back for her. She hated to smell her scent all over him and it truly breaks her apart. Like what he stated on that discussion in The Oak, he did not take the antidote and promised Jieun his presence next to her after the war.
What about her then?
Will he be there for her after all of this?

She looked at herself on the mirror, roaming her eyes on her red hair pinned on the top of her head. There are a few strands angling her face and she looked so different from what she used to. Those fearless eyes looking through the viewfinder of her sniper isn’t here anymore. Nor the remorseless eyes looking through those Alphas begging for their lives on her feet has no traces left in her.
She touched her leash, thinking of pulling it off her to feel that electric shock in her body to punish herself. Maybe if she felt the pain in her body, she may endure it. Because the pain she is feeling in her chest is unbearable.
