HEY GUYS. SORRY I'VE BEEN KIND OF M.I.A. I'VE BEEN FOCUSING A LOT ON SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUFF AND MY HEALTH SO I APOLOGIZE THAT THIS IS LATE. IT'S REALLY HARD TO KEEP UP WITH THE SCHEDULE WHEN YOU'VE GOT THINGS GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF WATTPAD. PLEASE, READ THE AUTHOR'S NOTE AT THE END. I HAVE SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO SAY. ALSO, THERE WILL BE A SMALL FIGHT SCENE IN THIS CHAPTER. SO FAIR WARNING. NOTHING THAT SHOULD SCAR ANYONE BUT I WANTED TO WARN YOU AHEAD OF TIME. ENJOY...

Time. Time was the big factor now and it didn't seem to be on our side. It seemed with every passing moment, my mom was growing worse. It was as if she couldn't decide on whether she should stay or go and at this point I didn't know either. I hated to see her in so much pain but I wasn't ready to let her go.

Ian had stayed by my side. I hadn't left the hospital and neither had he. His parents had been understanding and caring, coming to help in anyway that they could.  Even his sister, who I never expected to care, was here to help look after Jake and I. Shannon, Autumn, Terra, Olive and Damien came to visit me everyday, three times a day. Jake and I were never left alone. Aunt Cathy had arrived a week ago. When she saw Jake and I she took us into her arms and just held us, not letting us go. That's when she met Ian.

"Who are you?" she asked him. Aunt Cathy and I were a lot alike in the 'no cutting corners' attitude.

"My name's Ian, ma'am. Ian Michael Bright. I'm Carmen's boyfriend."

"Well, nice to meet you. I'm her Aunt Cathy and you will call me just that," she replied.

"Cathy?" he questioned.

"No, Aunt Cathy."

"Yes, ma'am."

Aunt Cathy was a force to be reckoned with.

She made me look at her before saying "You stay with this nice young man, while I go check on your mother. Okay?"

I nodded.

She kissed my and Jake's forehead before walking into my mother's hospital room.

"She's. . . interesting," Ian said to me.

I smirked and leaned against him. But that was a week ago though. Now, everyone was sitting on the edge of their seat because now it was just a matter of when. She had exceeded her week time frame but by how much? Ian's parents had taken Jake to their house to get him cleaned up. They had become such a big help. Heather stayed getting things when needed. I couldn't particularly move so no one forced me anywhere. I sat in the same chair every minute of everyday. My body had become hallow. The most I had done was drink water and relieve myself when necessary. Other than that, I was in that chair with Ian by my side.

"Carmen?"

I looked up to see Shannon and the gang. I hadn't even noticed their arrival.

I cleared my throat and said "Yeah?"

"How are you feeling?" Terra asked with concern in her face.

"The same as last time," I replied.

Olive sat down on the other side of me and wrapped her arms around me as I laid my now heavy head on Ian's shoulder. I was becoming extremely weak.

"Babe, it's time to get some food in your system," Ian spoke up, looking at my face.

"I'm okay. I'm not hungry. . . anyway," I mumbled my eyes becoming heavy again. I swore I had just woken up not too long ago.

"You look like you're either gunna be sick or pass out, babe. It's really time to get something in your stomach-."

"Did you not hear her? She said she's not hungry," Damien cut him off. He was leaning against the wall across from me.
