WELL, I HOPE IT'S ENOUGH, HAHAHA. ENJOY....
I was released from the hospital a couple of days after my mother's death. During that time, Aunt Cathy had been moving her belongings into our home. Jake stayed by my side in the hospital along with Ian. We'd been planning our mother's funeral. We knew she didn't want anyone to wear black at her funeral. Everyone was suppose to wear a bright color. No black. We had to celebrate her life, not mourn her death.
Ian continued to bring my schoolwork to my house, since I still wasn't ready to return to school yet. I still hadn't heard from Damien when the rest of the group would show up. It was clear at this point our friendship would never be the same again, if it was still considered a friendship at this point. I had crushed his feelings and in return he was hurting mine. The friendship I had expected to last forever seemed to be coming to a cease, like a candle that was reaching it's end.
"Carmen!"
I pulled the earbud out of my ear and yelled back "Yeah".
"Your handsome friend is here!"
I rolled my eyes and smirked at Aunt Cathy's description of Ian. As I came down the stairs and around the corner I smiled to see Ian standing there. I reached him and kissed him gently before whispering "I missed you".
"The feeling is mutual," he grinned, "Now, I have something for you."
I looked at him confused.
He chuckled and said "Close your eyes."
"Ian you know I don't like surprises."
"You'll like this one. Close your eyes."
I sighed and closed my eyes.
As my eyes were closed I felt him tie something around my eyes.
"Ian."
"Will you just relax and trust me."
I sighed.
He pulled me along behind him and said "Watch your step."
"Ian I can't see anything," I responded.
"Right."
I shook my head. What the hell was he doing?
"We're almost there."
"Finally," I mumbled.
"I heard that," he responded before stopping, "We're here." I heard a door open.
"Would you like to take the blindfold off or shall I?" I asked.
"Let me do the honors," he chuckled before untying the blindfold.
I opened my eyes and waited for them to adjust to the amount of sunlight.
"Meow."
I looked down to see a little black kitten with white paws and a patch of white fur around it's left eye.
I turned to Ian speechless.
He smiled and said "I got the cat for many reasons. The first being you've always wanted a cat as you've stated to me before. Second, I thought it would do you some good to have something else on your mind besides all the crazy stuff happening right now. And lastly, because I thought it would be a cute way to ask you to prom. Hint, it's on the collar."
