Chapter 2 : Yet Another Weird Creature for Her
The boy's green eyes were wide in shock. The gruesome image in front of him paralyzed his body for a split second. A girl was just bitten by a poisonous desert snake and what he's seeing was extraordinary.
No, it wasn't the snake that scared him, it was the girl.Though the girl clearly seemed as the victim, the snake was the one who received a far more deadly fate.
The snake's fangs were still gruesomely embedded on the girl's arm yet no blood came out. Instead, the one who's bleeding was the snake itself, the supposed killer.
The boy desperately removed the snake's bloody body off the girl's arm. He was disturbed by the fact of how injured the snake was. The green creature's body was now in it a pool of it's own blood.
The green-eyed lad took one disgusted look at it then turned his attention to the red-haired girl who was seemingly sleeping on the sand. His handsome features glowed as he was watching her.
She had porcelain white skin that matched her short red curly hair. Her body was small yet the boy wasn't fooled. He knew what she was.
"How the hell did you wind up in here?" he asked softly to her ear, no response came. The boy sighed and carried the small girl to somewhere far away from this murder site.

Kira's life flashed in an instant. From her childhood to the present, she could see every occurrences in her life. Even the morbid ones that she'd like to forget.
As she saw the images fast forwarding in front of her, she can't help but feel a growing desire within her. She needs to complete her mission. For her people. For her parents.
Her parents. Their figures appeared and she was glad to see them again, safe and sound. Yet that happiness disappeared as their horrific bodies emerged. Kira felt revolted, anguish and fury.
She was still staring at them when she heard a distant voice. Her eyes immediately fluttered open.
"Ah, finally, you're awake!" a cheerful voice declared.
Kira fixed her gaze on the boy in front of her. He had black hair and eyes that shined like shamrocks. He seemed lightly dressed with a bunch of tools she hasn't seen in her life.
"I am Leone," the boy neared and offered his right hand to her.
Kira stared dumbfounded at his hand.
Leone looked at her funnily then laughed a bit, "You're supposed to shake it, silly."
"Oh, such bizarre mannerisms you have here." She followed his words and shook his hand.
"So, what's your name?"
"Kira." Kira looked up his grinning face and his towering figure.
"Kira, huh?" Leone let go of her hand then sat beside her, cross-legged. "Nice name you got there."
"My parents gave it to me."
"Of course they had. Who could've possibly done so?"
Kira felt like a fool. She cursed herself in her own native tongue.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing."
Seconds of silence passed between them.
"Thank you, Leone." Kira was the one who broke the silence.
"For what?"
"For...for what you did." Honestly, Kira didn't know why she was thanking herself. She felt that she needed to do so for some reason.
"Oh that. No problem. I was just passing by, you know," Leone said sincerely. "I am glad that you're okay. Does it hurt?"
"What does hurt?"
"I mean, does your arm still hurt?"
Kira looked at him inquiringly, then the answer struck her. Mr. Snake, Mr. Snake bit her. Then she smiled then shook her head.
"No, no. I am fine. No need to worry about me."
Leone's eyes were unreadable. It was like he was calculating something complex in his mind. He drew a relieved sigh then patted her soft shoulder.
"That was some snake you met there."
"Yes but I never knew Mr. Snake could be so...bad."
"Nothing is good in here anymore, Kira."
"Yes, yes I know that. I was a fool. It was because of its skin..."
"Oh, he's skin. I totally understand you there. Been there, done that."
"So you've met such evil creatures too?"
"Kira, there are tons of those kinds in earth, especially in the desert."
"Desert? Is that where we are now?"
"Yes. You've never heard of a desert before?"
"Never in my life, even the names Leone and snake seem alien to me."
Leone whistled amused. "Where do you come from, Kira?"
"From u-," she answered yet stopped herself, remembering Mr. Snake's disapproving response then she bowed her head. "you wouldn't believe me."
"You come from up there," Leone replied knowingly and pointed up forefinger to the sky.
Kira's head shot up, startled by the fact that he knew.
Leone, once seeing her shocked face, laughed out loud, "That was a lucky guess, Kira."
"Oh. You're really weird, Leone," Kira said relieved.
"You're weirder," Leone was still laughing but he stopped dead as he saw her delicate face. Her gray beautiful eyes were watching him amused. Leone stifled one final snicker then ruffled her hair. "You're weird."

Leone and Kira kept on staring at each other but the boy was the one who stared harder. He searched for something, anything in her eyes. What he discovered amazed him.
He saw everything in her. He was inwardly blissful.
"You know, we gotta do something this hair of yours," he spoke out suddenly.
"M-my hair?" Kira touched her hair curiously, wondering what might be wrong with it.
"That, my lady, is pure torture," he said, pointing to her thick messy fringe. He got out a small vintage brooch from his pocket. Leone closed the gap between them by clipping Kira's fringe to the back of her head with the clip.
Leone accidentally touched a small part of her forehead, he felt a tingling sensation which he longed for quite a period.
"I knew it," he mumbled to himself.
"Leone, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, nothing's wrong. Everything's fine." He let go of her and gazed fondly at the girl in front of him.
For Leone, Kira was now his every being. Kira brought about the lost joy which was taken away from him because of them.
As Leone was still staring at her, he felt something. His pulse quickened suddenly. He sensed that something was really wrong.
He instinctively jumped on front of Kira, protecting her small figure from what was to come.
"Le-Leone? What are you doi-?"
"Hey, you kids, what in tarnations are you doing here?" a husky voice cried out from nowhere.
Kira's gray eyes widened in curiosity as she looked intriguingly at the metal object being pointed at them.
Leone tightened his grip around her body. He was right. They were in danger.
A dangerous looking man was aiming his gun dead straight at them.
