❝ that girl over there, that's nova van kirk. she's kook royalty here in the outer banks. her old man is this big shot district attorney who's shaken hands with the governor, whilst her mother owns saint olives hospital. she's best friends with sarah cameron and is dating rafe cameron, so no surprise there. i don't really know too much about her since she doesn't associate herself with pogues. everything that i have heard though came from her brother, riley, who died a couple of months ago from an overdose. he was my best friend. he was all our friend. we miss him a lot, but we don't really talk about him because it's hard sometimes, you know. occasionally we do wonder about how nova is doing since riley often talked about her like she was his favourite person in the entire world and promised she would become our friend one day too, but it's not like she would ever talk to us about it anyways. now come to think of it, there's probably one other person who would be able to get to break those walls down around nova's incredibly bitter heart. i know it's meant to be a secret, but jj and her had a thing before the summer, and don't tell him i said this, but he totally has a thing for her. ❞
