It was another day in the middle of the busy city; low hums of engines from vehicles in an unmoving traffic, sun rays beaming on the pavements and warming your skin. It should have been a usual day like the rest of the weekdays for you, alongside your best friend Akise, traversing the sidewalk amidst an engaging conversation. But this time was different, far from what was before. Your feet pounded the cement in furious haste, your backpack bouncing on your back at every steps, and you ignoring the repeated and desperate call of your name.

"Let me explain! Just—" Akise abruptly pause, letting a kid cross in front him before continuing on to chase you. "Y/N!"

Having enough of the nonsense boggling your mind, you twist around and glare at him.

"Explain what?!" You yelled. "That for days you've been spending your time with those...those.." Grimacing at last night's memory, you then stare at him incredulously. "What are even those things."

Akise anxiously looks around the area, cold sweat dripping down his temples, then seized you by the arm and drag you in a nearby alley. You let yourself be pulled, waiting for him to tell you what the hell was going on.

"Let me talk first and I'll explain," He holds a hand up, motioning you to be quiet. "What you saw back there —who you saw, was Deus, he's the god of time and space."

"And the girl was muru muru, his servant. We were at Deus's home, the cathedral of causality." Akise calmly elaborates for the both of you, seeing as you were already in a brink of insanity after what had unexpectedly unravelled to you.

"They created a game, a survival one, where there are 12 diary holders." The boy took out his phone from his pocket and flipped it open, showing the screen in front of you.

"Each diary predicts the future depending on its properties, functions, personality, and lifestyle of its holder." He pressed a button and there displayed on the screen were different paragraphs, all in a diary format, containing Akise's common activity when starting his day— you've been living with him for years, of course you knew even the bits of details.

A shudder made its way down your spine reading the last, and recent, entry at the bottom of the screen. Written in red is the date and time, under it says that Akise was going to explain to you everything. You quickly switched your eyes to your wrist to check the time. The log was accurate, he did begin to explain four minutes ago.

And he barely— actually, not even ones you saw him open his phone until now. Even if he's going to lie to you and typed it down himself you would see.

Staggering back, you gaze at him in pure utter disbelief. In spite of seeing everything with your own eyes you didn't want to believe. It was too horrifying to be true, like a nightmare taking shape in reality. The remnants of what the creatures look like flash before your eyes as if they were roll of film burning permanently in your mind.

Akise hides back his phone and reach a hand out to you. "I know its a lot to take in, but it is what it is. They're completely harmless if it makes the situation better."

"Harmless?" You release a bitter laugh, avoiding him. "Of course they're harmless, they're practically having fun watching you all kill each other!"

Dragging your palm upwards your face, you rake your fingers through your hair and lightly pull a fist of it in frustration. A survival game? Who the hell would put themselves into a situation that would harm them?

You narrowed your eyes at Akise. "What did you got yourself into? My god. Why did you even join...did those things—"

"No," He denies, shaking his head. He already knows what you were about to say "I willingly joined."
