Putting the prologue here while I plan out the rest of the book! The actual book should be posted around the end of August!
Emperor Belos gave a heavy sigh, his body was growing weak once again. He would need to consume the magic of another talisman soon. However this would need to wait, for the task at hand was far more important than his needs.
He gave one more heavy sigh before asking what he needed to know for reassurance. ".. Please tell me preparations for the day of unity are going as planned" He looked to the nameless guard beside him and was soon pleased with the answer he got. "The portal is fully rebuilt and ready for a test opening. Though I, along with others are confused on how we are supposed to open it. It seems like it needs a key to open its power."
Like Belos would reveal his power to a nameless lacky. Instead he gave the guard a vague answer. "Do not worry about opening it. I will take care of that." With the knowledge that things were going as planned Belos got up from the throne he rested on, against his body's wishes, and made his way down to the hidden room that kept the powerful portal. It had taken him longer than he expected because he would need to stop and let his body catch up with his actions. He was growing weaker. He needed his plan to work. With that thought he had made his way to the portal and ordered that everyone that wasn't necessary to leave immediately.
That only left around three guards. One to stand by the door to make sure no one entered, one to maintain the magic levels of the door and the final to watch over Belos in case he used too much power and required assistance. Which seemed more and more likely. When everything was prepared for him he got out his oddly mechanical witches staff.
As he drawed out the power of the glorified metal walking stick he lifted it and casted its power onto the door. This was his attempt to open it, match its power and he assumed something would happen. And he was right. Something did happen, it backfired. Instead of opening the door Belos' magic seemed to be breaking the door! He tried to pull away when he noticed this but it was too late. The guards noticed this and ran as far as they could. 'Tch, loyal my ass. Abandoning me at the first sight of trouble. I'll make a note to take care of the-' and then it went.
Something was covering the room, most door pieces, some Belos but most importantly and frightening.. Magic! When Belos came back from his slight concussion all he could see was wild magic covering the room. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. And what he hadn't known was that his plan was a success, just not in the way he thought. Because somewhere, in the boiling isles three very confused, very powerful and very hungry boys came into his world…
