Hurt-Comfort

...

George and Dream laid side by side. Their hands inches apart, moments away from touching.

"You've been quiet," George says softly. Almost scared to break the comfortable silence they had created.

"I've been thinking." Dream said, he was hesitant to continue. What he had been thinking about wasn't all that pleasant.

"What about?" George was curious, he couldn't help but wonder. Dream did always have the most magnificent things swimming in his mind. George liked hearing his thoughts and ideas.

"I don't want to bring you down." Dream moved his hand away, bringing both of his arms to rest behind his head. The pair laid in Dream's backyard, the clear crisp night sky allowed stars to shine brightly. The two had been sitting there for what felt like ages, just staring at bright orbs in the sky.

George nudged him with his elbow. "Come on. Just tell me. Just let it out."

"When you look at the stars it just makes you feel tiny. Alone. Useless in this huge world." George understood. He had thought the same thing in his darkest moments. He had a lot of those.

"And when you really think about it, what's the point? What do we do for this world besides destroying it? The oceans, the pollution, the entire world is ending and all we are doing is making it worse."

George reached up and grabbed his boyfriend's hand. He laced his slender fingers through his boyfriend's calloused ones.

"We're not doing anything good for the world so, what's the point of being here?" George sat up and looked at his boyfriend. Tears nearly spilled over his shimmering green eyes.

"What's the point? Dream I know the world is going to shit. I know it's hard but look you have me, and Sapnap. You have your family." George brought his hand up to the blond's cheek. Wiping the tears streaking Dream's face with his thumb

"Please remember how much you are loved." Dream looked into George's brown eyes and nodded.

"Okay, okay." George kissed him softly.

"Say it." George said sternly, his brows furrowing.

"I am loved." George kissed Dream's forehead.

"You are."  The two drifted off to sleep beneath the stars.

...

George woke up later that night with the blond gone. The spot that he had laid wasn't warm like before and George's arms were empty. The place where he had once held him was cold and had nothing left to grasp.

George looked up. His stomach falling. Something felt wrong, different. The brunet looked up at the house, maybe Dream had gone inside.

But all the lights were out.

George was alone in the backyard. The soft light of the moon was the only thing left to comfort him. And George was terrified because he knew something was wrong.

"Dream!" He bounced up, racing to the back door. Thankfully it was unlocked. But no one was in the house. He searched every nook and cranny, but he was nowhere to be found.

He looked on the kitchen counter, both of their sets of keys were still there and their cars were still in the driveway. So where could he have gone?

George looked out the kitchen window. The forest that lined their backyard was dangerous. It was filled with rocky terrain and dangerous cliffs. If one went out there without a flashlight they would be dead within minutes.

If one went out there with that exact intent, it could be seconds.

George quickly grabbed a light and ran out the back door. He needed to find Dream.

...

There he was. The blond was standing there still as could be at the ledge. His foot seconds away from going over. Just one little movement and he would be over the cliff.

"Dream, please. Don't." He could see the blond tense. His entire body coming to an uncomfortable halt. He had been caught.

"Why shouldn't I?" Dream asked, his voice breaking. "What's the point anymore?"

"Dream..." George took a deep breath. "It's almost over,"

Dream shook his head. "It's just begun."

"Don't overthink this, just look in my eyes." George was crying now. "Don't be scared, don't be shy. Come back to me. Come on in the water's fine."

"The ocean's rising." Dream argued.

"Like I give a shit."

"The whole world's ending."

"Honey, it already did." George retorted.

"You're not gonna slow it?" Dream asked himself, finally looking over his shoulder to George.

"Heaven knows you tried." Dream always did try. He tried his best to make everything better. But that also always made him feel like it was his fault when it went bad too.

"Got it." Dream said, taking a small step backward toward his boyfriend.

"Good, now get inside." George yanked him back and into him.

They were both crying. Sobs were echoed in the dark forest. George let his flashlight clatter to the ground. But he didn't care, because Dream was in his arms again. He was safe.

"Never scare me like that again, please. I don't know what I would do without you." Dream wiped away his own tears. Sniffling, he was trying to calm himself down. George kissed away his boyfriend's tears.

"Dream I love you so much. So, so much. And I know it's hard to believe it. I know I can't convince you." Dream was nodding, his words falling short. "But I do. And I will tell you every day, I will tell you every time you forget. I love you so damn much."

Dream hugged him. His body relaxing against the brunet.

And although he hurt inside. He felt better with George's arms keeping him safe.

Thank you @khemberia on TikTok for this idea.

I also changed a few things with the lyrics from Bo's song. Just so they sounded like actual sentences, not a rhyme scheme.

Sorry for this being so short. Just wanted to get this little scenario out of my head.

Hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing :D
