Luke pockets the room key and he takes my hand like he's been holding it my whole life. Leading me off the patio, through the restaurant and down the grand staircase toward the back of the lobby. Out an expansive arched French door, through a courtyard sprinkled with palm trees and up an exterior staircase lined with Moroccan tile. I keep focusing on the decor and our surroundings to try and distract from my pounding heart.
When we come to a stop outside a door, room number 214, Luke pulls the key from his pocket.
"How did you know where to go?" I ask.
"I've stayed here before. Not in this exact room, but at this hotel."
He glances down at me, and for the first time I can see that his eyes are two different colours. One is green and one is blue. I've never known anyone with two different coloured eyes before. I want to ask him about it but now is not the time.
Still holding hands, I squeeze his. He squeezes back, and then with his other hand he taps the key to the electronic handle and it beeps, unlocking.
The hotel is only two storeys tall but immediately I can see that doesn't matter. A floor to ceiling set of doors is open leading out to the patio and, beyond it, the Santa Rosa mountains. Not a thing in the way and the view literally takes my breath away.
As I take off toward the patio Luke lets go of my hand. He stops by the door to take off his sport jacket and then I hear him bark out a laugh. I glance over my shoulder and see him holding up a box of condoms with a big red bow on the top.
"Courtesy of Tessa, I presume?" I say.
"Either that or the concierge has a wild sense of humour," he muses.
I turn back to the mountains and then I feel him approach from behind me.
When he stops, he's not touching me but he's so close that I can feel the heat emanating off of him. Primal heat.
Luke places one hand around on the railing in front of me and uses the other to sweep all of my hair over my left shoulder, baring the right side of neck. My breath hitches as he bends down and places his lips against my skin. He's devoting this time to worshiping my neck and as the seconds blur into what must be minutes, I fear I may pass out from need. Despite his desperation in the restaurant, this man is not in a hurry now. His movements are slow. Painfully slow.
He shifts behind me, placing his right hand on the railing and lifting his left hand to my hair. He winds his hand around it and tugs softly, and then hard as he moves his lips from my neck to my collarbone. My head falls back onto his shoulder and I'm about to beg him when he moves his hands to my waist.
He grips me, his hands so big and so strong I feel like he could break me in half. My breath hitches instantly as he slides his hands down to my hips and leans into me, pressing his body close to mine, pushing his cock against my ass.
"Oh, God. Luke," I pant.
He grunts, a low, gravelly sound from deep in his throat. "I didn't get to savour you the way I wanted to the other night." He steps away from me and instinctively I turn to face him, leaning back against the railing to keep myself from melting into a puddle.
He steps forward again and fingers the thin silk strap of my dress. "This has been driving me crazy all night. No bra."
I bite my lip and shake my head slowly. My eyes are heavy, my lids at half-mast. He slides his fingertips down my arm and takes my hand, walking slowly backward and guiding me back into the suite.
The room is illuminated dimly by a lone light across from the bed and two candles on either bedside table. He must have lit them before coming outside.
